Albert Jackson “Bo” Brow

Albert Jackson “Bo” Brown, age 82, of Manchester, Ga., passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Warm Springs Medical Center in Warm Springs, Ga. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home in Manchester. Rev. Robbie Shirah and Rev. Cary Hicks officiated. Honorary pallbearers were Billy Farris, Lamar Chastain, Bill Pierce, Stephen Goodman, Justin Brening, Brian Edgemon and Billy Barlow. The family received friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, at the funeral home. Mr. Brown was born February 1, 1934 in Meriwether County, Ga., the son of Thomas Edward Brown and Sarah Pearl Bishop Brown. He was retired as an automotive mechanic, having worked over the years for several area companies including Georgia Pacific and Robert Hubbard Auto Repair. He had also worked as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed work, going to the river, fishing, tractor pulls, NASCAR and anything related to engines or mechanics. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Herman Brown, Hayward Brown, and Bill Brown, and two sisters, Ruth O’Neal and Molly Alexander. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Joyce A. Brown; three children, Mary Anne “Sam” Rogers, Chuck Brown (Cherie), and Shelley Elliott (Wayne) all of Manchester; six grandchildren, Ashley Brening (Justin), and Bethany Edgemon (Brian) of Manchester, Schae Elliott of Columbus, Kaylee Brown, Collin Elliott and Nick Brown all of Manchester; a sister, Joyce Reynolds of Atlanta; and a very dear friend, Billy Farris of Manchester. Betty Jean Bryan

Mrs. Betty Jean Bryan, age 82, of LaGrange, passed away on November 2, 2016, at West Georgia Hospice after several years of declining health, including Alzheimer’s disease. Mrs. Bryan was born on November 24, 1933, in Carroll County, Georgia, to the late Jack and Doris Mitchell. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in death by her husband of 59 years, Hollis Bryan, who passed away on November 2, 2010. Survivors include her son, Mike Bryan, of Pine Mountain; daughter Kay Lewis, and her husband, Scott, of LaGrange; granddaughters, Nikki Bridwell and her husband, Dean, Jessica Costley, and Lindsey McClendon and her husband, Jim, all of LaGrange; Casey Middleton and her husband, Bryan, of Cedartown; and Jennifer Lewis of Colorado Springs, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Egan Turner, Cade Middleton, Ian Whisman, Aidan Turner and Lilah McClendon; sister, Glenda Beggs, and her husband, Buddy, of Power Springs; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Mrs. Bryan was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was a seamstress by trade.  She was employed for many years at the Kex Plant of Callaway Mills, Playtex and Signal Knitting Mills. She was a long time member of Sunnyside Baptist Church. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Elizabeth Williams, the owner of Opal’s Personal Care Home, and her wonderful staff, especially Rachael Bagley and Tameka Newton, but many others as well, for the loving care they provided to Mrs. Bryan, who they all affectionately called B.B., over the past several years. The family would also like to thank the wonderful employees of West Georgia Hospice and Affinis Hospice for the care they provided to her during her illness. Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel. Interment followed at Shadowlawn Cemetery. Family received friends on Saturday beginning at noon until service hour. Flowers are appreciated or donations may be made to a favorite charity in honor of Mrs. Bryan. Online condolences may be sent to the funeral home at www.higginslagrangechapel.com.

Jeffrey Blades Stewart

Mr. Jeffrey Blades Stewart, age 64, of LaGrange, passed away on November 3, 2016. Mr. Stewart was born on September 7, 1952 in Fort Monmouth, NJ to Floyd Walter Stewart and the late Barbra Ann Grantham Stewart. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Stewart Allen. Survivors include his father, Floyd Walter Stewart (Smithfield NC); former spouse, Carol Stewart of LaGrange; children, Emily Stewart of LaGrange, Grant Stewart of Huntsville, AL, Rob Stewart of Athens, GA; and a sister, Julie Stewart Hall of Smithfield, NC. Family received friends on Saturday, November 5 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary at the First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange. The memorial service was at 2:00. In lieu of flowers memorial donations will be accepted to the First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange. Charlie Mae McGhee

Mrs. Charlie Mae McGhee, age 92, of Hahira, GA, formerly of Valley, AL, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, GA. Mrs. McGhee is survived by her two children, Brenda (Roger) Graham of Hahira, GA and Charles (Elaine) McGhee of Valley, AL; her five grandchildren, Cheryl (Nic) Mason of Valley, AL, Lisa Graham of Beulah, AL, Adam (Anna) McGhee of Opelika, AL, Jennifer (Clint) Lovelace of Auburn, AL, and Mark (Laura) Graham of Hahira, GA; her 11 great grandchildren, Graham Mason, Jacob (Kamry) Siggers, Jessica Sullivan, Addison McGhee, Aniston McGhee, Walker Lovelace, Charleigh Lovelace, Jacob Lovelace, Joseph Lovelace, Maddie Graham, and Webb Graham; her great-great grandchild, Jax Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis McGhee and five sisters. Mrs. McGhee was born on April 2, 1924 in Elmore County, AL. She was a member of the Fairfax 1st Baptist Church. She had retired from West Point Pepperell after 42 years of service with the company. Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 3:00 PM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Rev. Steve York and The Rev. Floyd Aikens officiated. Interment followed in Fairfax Cemetery. The family received friends Thursday afternoon from 2:00 until 3:00 PM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Christian Service Center, 5340 Cusseta Road, Lanett, Alabama, 36863, in her memory.

Charline D. Roberson

Mrs. Charline D. Roberson, age 90, of Anderson, South Carolina passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, South Carolina. Mrs. Roberson was born on January 3, 1926 in Shawmut, Alabama to the late Charlie Henry Davis and Caddie Lee Humphrey Davis. Graveside services were held on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 12:00P.M. EDT at the Shawmut Cemetery. She is survived by two daughters, Brenda (Richard) Masters, Anderson, SC, Kay (E.T. “Butch”)  Embler, Anderson, SC; son, James Roy (Suzanne) Roberson, Auburn, Alabama; grandchildren, Lance (Cindi) Masters, Bret B. Masters, Ryan (Kali) Masters, Leigh (Mark) Embler Kennedy, Jason T. Embler, Julie (Chris) Roberson O’Toole, Jennifer (Richard II) Roberson Navickas; 11 great-grandchildren; special friends, P.J. Ward, Susan Embler, Nancy Hall, David Bowden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover G. Roberson, Jr. and a brother, Jesse L. Davis. Mrs. Roberson was a member of the North Anderson Baptist Church, Anderson, SC, and a former member of the Shawmut First Baptist Church.

She was retired from the textile industry. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in her name to the North Anderson Baptist Church, 2308 North Main Street, Anderson, SC 29621.

Leroy Cameron, Sr.

Leroy Cameron, Sr. was born March 10, 1921 in LaGrange, Georgia to the late Charlie Flower and Minnie Cameron. He married Mattie Lou Ware on January 1, 1944. At an early age, he joined Antioch Baptist Church. On Saturday, October 29, 2016, Leroy Cameron, Sr. departed this life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie. He leaves to cherish his memories, 11 children: Minnie (Arthur) O’Bannon of Louisville, KY; Leroy (Marycene) Cameron, Jr.; Charles (Phyllis) Cameron of Jeffersonville, IN; Wilson Cameron; Betty (Jimmy)Freeman; Abe (Angela)Cameron; Laura (Henry) Hurston; Maudie (Leroy) Dean; Emma Robinson of San Pedro, CA; Leon (Shae) Cameron and Ceola Cameron; 32 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. The Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Wehadkee Baptist Church. Dr. W.T. Edmondson officiated. Burial followed at the Church Cemetery. The family will be at their home at 630 Teaver Road.
