Michael Anthony Vick, age 33, of Jackson, MS, died Tuesday, November 1, 2016 in Jackson. Funeral services were held at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the chapel of Cox Funeral Home, Hamilton, GA. Rev. Tommy Henschel officiated. Michael was born November 15, 1982 in Thomasville, GA, the son of Debbie Dahlberg Nadeau and Randall L. Vick. He attended high school in Huntsville, AL and was a skilled carpenter. He had worked for Lee Construction of Huntsville. Michael enjoyed fishing but what was most important to him was his family, especially his daughter, Madison. Survivors include his daughter, Madison Vick Hassler of Birmingham, AL; his mother, Debbie Nadeau of Midland, GA; his father, Randall Vick of Thomasville; his Maternal Grandmother, Virginia Craigmiles of Thomasville; his Maternal Grandfather, Ulf Dahlberg of Palm Coast, FL; Aunts and Uncles, Monica and Keith Lott of Midland, Kurt and DeeDee Dahlberg of McKinney, TX, Jodie Craigmiles of Thomasville and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bobby Lee Seymour
Bobby Lee Seymour, age 71, of Warm Springs, died Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at West Georgia Medical Center, La-Grange. Memorial services were held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Durand. Rev. Angie Crummie officiated. Visitation was from 10:00 until 12:00 at the church prior to the service. Mr. Seymour was born June 17, 1945 in Ocilla, GA the son of Robert James Seymour and Nora Lee Tucker Seymour. He attended Georgia Southern, the University of Tennessee and earned both his undergraduate and Master’s Degrees in Rehabilitation Counseling from Troy State. He moved to Warm Springs in 1971 to take a position with First American Bank and soon after joined the staff at the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation. Mr. Seymour retired from the institute as a Medical Rehabilitation Counselor after 30 years of service. He was also a very active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Meriwether County Rotary Club and the Manchester Lions Club. During his retirement, he was most passionate about attending the activities of his grandchildren of whom he was very proud. He also enjoyed being a partner in the family soap business the past 16 years. Mr. Seymour is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Seymour of Warm Springs; his sons, Shane Seymour of Gainesville, GA, Shad Seymour and his wife, Kim of Thomaston; five grandchildren, Harper, Mitchell, Courson, Adyson and Grayson. Gene Parker Talley
Mr. Gene Parker Talley, age 77, passed away on November 9, 2016 at the Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia. Mr. Talley was born in LaGrange, Georgia to the late Henry Percy Talley and Fannie Bell Parker Talley. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves and worked for Royal Manufacturing. Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel. Rev. Jimmy Lester officiated. Interment followed at Gray Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Family received friends on Friday, November 11, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Ruth Burton Wheeler
Mrs. Ruth Burton Wheeler, of LaGrange, GA passed away Friday, November 4, 2016 at her residence. Dorothy Ruth Burton Wheeler was born on October 16, 1919 to the parentage of the later Anderson, Sr. and Inez Burton. “Ruth”, as she was affectionally known, was the third of ten children born to “Papa” and “Mama”. At an early age, she joined Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was a graduate of West Point Colored High School. After graduation, Ruth moved to Montgomery, AL, where she met Charlie, the love of her life. Charlie and Ruth relocated to Washington, D.C., and they became the parents of Bessie, Felix, Romaine, Laurissa, and Jerry. These siblings joined an older brother, Charles. She had a love for fishing and would join her son in New York on fishing trips. Ruth was retired from George Washington Hospital in Washington, D.C. In her later years, she, along with Charles and his family, moved back to West Point, where she departed her life on November 4, 2016. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her children, Bessie, Dorothy Romaine, and Laurissa Wheeler. Her siblings, Tom Burton, Anderson Burton, Jr., Milton Burton, and Juanita Burton Zeigler. Algie Oliver Parker
Mr. Algie Oliver Parker, age 95, of LaGrange, GA passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Hospice LaGrange. Mr. Parker was born December 2, 1920 in Kemper County, MS to the late Edward Ewell Parker and Mittie Lee Brown Parker. He received his Master’s Degree from Auburn University, served as teacher and coach in Mississippi for three years before moving to LaGrange, where he was at LaGrange High School for eight years. He was the first principal of Westside Jr. High School for 16 years and served as Principal in Warner Robins before retiring. Mr. Parker was a member of First Baptist Church on the Square, where he was a Deacon, Department Director, Adult Sunday School Teacher, also involved with the Soup Kitchen, Meals on Wheels, and the Senior Choir. He was instrumental in organizing and coaching the first Little League Program in LaGrange. Mr. Parker served on the Citizen’s Review Panel, Department of Family and Children’s Board for 17 years. He was highly involved with the Active Life Center, a member of the Retired Troup County Teacher’s Association, NTEA, AARP, and the American Association of Retired People. Mr. Parker proudly served his country in the Army Air Force, during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor Wilson Parker. Mrs. Sandra Gamble, age 68, of LaGrange, passed away Friday, November 11, 2016 at Hospice LaGrange. Mrs. Gamble was born January 20, 1948 in LaGrange, daughter of the late Otis Clifford Jones and Emma Ruth Mercer Jones. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and was retired from the Troup County Tax Commissioners Office. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald D. Jones, a son-in-law, Gary Walton, and a niece, Lisa Wilson Bryan. Survivors include her husband, Jesse Gamble; daughters, Debbie Walton, Gerrie Lynn (Darren) Wiker, and Judy (Chris) Swinford; son, Jerry “J.L.” (Cheryl) Norton; sister, Jean Brisky; grandchildren, D.J.
