David A. Fritts

Mr. David Allen Fritts, age 33, of Hogansville, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017, in Newnan. Mr. Fritts was born in Atlanta and lived in Heard County until making his home in Hogansville last year. He was Baptist by faith and was employed by Gainesville Fire Protection LLC. He is survived by his children, Haylie Fritts of Carrollton, Elijah Fritts and Lindsey Loper, both of Hogansville; his fiancée, Andrea Loper; his parents David and Ginny Fritts of Hogansville; sister and brother in-law, Crystal and Lou Smith of Bowdon; niece, Isabella Smith; and nephew, Tyler Smith. The memorial service was conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 28, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Reverend George Daves officiated. Services for Mr. Glenn Allen Webster was held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at New Life Apostolic Church at 402 Cooley Road, LaGrange. Ethel Mae Worman

Ms. Ethel Mae Worman was born July 12, 1930 to the late, Gussie Tucker and Dallas Wortham in Pine Mountain, Georgia. She joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in 1973. Ethel was employed by Roosevelt State Park; retiring after giving 30 years of service. On Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at WellStar West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange, Georgia, Ethel Mae Worman journey of life was complete. She is at peace, her obligations here have been fulfilled, her deeds are done. Her life was well lived, her battles are over. She surrendered her life to God and has gone Home to rest. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons; and two brothers, Clifford Tucker and Willie “Duck” Tucker. She leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters, Catherine Crowder, Sara Jones, and Gloria Jones; one son, Larry Jones, all of Pine Mountain, Georgia; two brothers, Bill (Pearle) Wortham and J. D. (Beulah) Wortham, Manchester, GA; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives; and a very special nurse, Christy Turvin. The Celebration of Life Service was held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Rev. Gregory Turks officiated. Burial followed at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.

Estelle McGruder

Estelle McGruder was born April 30, 1931 in Chipley, Georgia to the late, Ed and Susie Dunlap; the youngest of eight children. “Tee” as she was affectionately known, accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of St. John CME Church in Pine Mountain, Georgia. She served as a Choir member, Stewardess, and was instrumental in helping to build the new Church. She retired as a cook at Harris County Middle School; and also, worked as a cook at Gill’s McQuire and Callaway Gardens Beach.

Estelle was united in Holy Matrimony to the late, Ruben McGruder, Sr. whom preceded her in death.

Estelle McGruder was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, growing flowers, and talking on the phone. On Friday, January 20, 2017, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Columbus, Georgia; Estelle made a peaceful transition to her Heavenly Home. In addition to her parents, and her husband, Ruben; she was preceded in death by two sons, Timothy McGruder and Nathaniel McGruder; brother, Virgil Dunlap; five sisters, Lola Kate Brooks, Minnie Tigner, Mattie Justice, Willie Mae Russell, and Fairly Lee Hunter. She leaves to celebrate her life and legacy her children, Ruben (Janice) McGruder, Jr., Lawrenceville, GA; Willie Mae Phillips, Hamilton, GA; Ruby (James), Miami, FL; and Vivian Shepherd, Pine Mountain, GA; six grandchildren, Tecia (Kennard) McKay, Shun McGruder, Kinta Williams, Reshunda Mahone, Joycelyn Mahone, and Shannon Shepherd; six great grandchildren; one brother, Eddie Dunlap, Columbus, OH; one brother-in-law, Willie Hudson McGruder; and a host of nieces, nephews, and a special god-son, Andreko Dunlap; and a honorary son, David Dunlap. The Celebration of Life Service was held on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. John CME Church in Pine Mountain, Georgia. Burial followed at Trinity CME Church Cemetery in Durand.

Teresa Mae Harris

Teresa Mae Harris, daughter of the late Eunice Bankston and Roland Smith, was born on January 21, 1949, in Troup County, Georgia. She attended East Depot High School in Troup County, Georgia. She retired from Pretty Products in LaGrange. On June 23, 1979, she married the love of her life, Curtis Harris. They were truly sweethearts who were always seen together. She was a faithful, fun-loving mother and friend who loved her family and friends. On Sunday, January 22, 2017 at the WellStar West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Georgia; she departed this life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by and her true love, her husband, Mr. Curtis Harris; her sister, Laura Mahone, with whom she shared a bond like no other. Teresa leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Jacqueline (Greg) Jones, Curtis (Stephanie) Huzzie, Trenton Huzzie, Fred (Tracy) Harris, Nikita (Clifton) Harris-Reed; one sister, Mary (Jasper) Ellison; brother, Jimmy Mahone; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and other relatives; and a special friend, David Garmany. The Celebration of Life Service was held on Friday at 1:00 PM at Confidence Baptist Church. Pastor Michael Jackson and Rev. Gary Fanning officiated. Burial followed at Southview Cemetery.

Jeffery Ellis Ferrell

Mr. Jeffery Ellis Ferrell was born June 26, 1959 to the late, Ms. Josephine T. Ferrell and Mr. Edward Phillips in LaGrange, Georgia. He was educated in the Troup County School System. Jeff was reared in the great community of “Thomastown”. He was a member of the Smyrna Baptist Church. He was employed with Dunson Mill in LaGrange, Georgia for several years; and also, Troup County School System. Jeffery was a loving, caring, kind, gentle man. Always willing to help people. Through trials and tribulations he loved the Lord and he held on tight to His promises. On Sunday, January 22, 2017; God called our beloved Jeffery home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Mr. Jerry Lanier Ferrell; grandparents, Amelia E. Ferrell, James (Emma) Phillips, Helen Thornton; and cousin, Horace Ward. Loved by so many, special memories will be shared and cherished by his loving son, Mr. Roderick Williams; granddaughter, Roderuana Harrison; devoted, loving sister Pamer Thornton (Jerome) Allen; aunts, Mrs. Yvonne (Charlie) Hixson, Mrs. Maudie Nelson, Mrs. Imogene Byrd; uncles, Mr. R. L. Godwin and Mr. George (Duckill) Thornton; all of LaGrange, GA; two loving nephews he loved dearly, Mr. Jerkiko (Jai) Allen, LaGrange, GA; and Mr. Jason Bellamy, Columbus, GA; nieces, Ms. JerDaija Traylor was “his girl” and Ms. Tailor Worle; a loving god mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Paige Thornton and Family; special devoted cousins, Mrs. Marsha (Tyrone) Stinson and Mr. Curtis (Porky) Russell; caring family, Ms. Cassandra (Tubby) Harrison and a host of cousins, family, and friends. The Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday at 1:00 PM at Smyrna Baptist Church. Pastor Lonnie Walls officiated. Burial followed at Southview Cemetery.

Mable Turner

Mable Turner, age 73, of 115 Cedar Street, passed away on Wednesday at Emory University Hospital. Mable Turner the daughter of the late Walter and Bertha Turner was born in West Point. She was graduate of Ethel Kight class of 1964 and attended Columbus Technical College. She was an active member of Zeta Amicae of Columbus, and Auxiliary of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 am at Union Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Alfonso Simpson, Jr. officiating. The interment will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at her home at 115 Cedar Street.
