Robbie R. Robinson

Mr. Robbie R. Robinson, age 58, of Hogansville, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017, at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta. Robbie was born December 30, 1958, in LaGrange, son of the late Vender and Dorothy Robertson Robinson. A 1977 graduate of Hogansville High School, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he member of the football team. He was employed as a consultant for Alexander Proudfoot for a number of years before returning to Hogansville. Survivors include his brother, Hewlette D. “Cookie” Cook and his wife, Tami of Dalton; niece, Leigh Banks and her husband, Mickey of Livingston, TX; nephew, Andrew Cook and his wife, Jessica of Newnan; great-nephews, Sam, A.J., Kobie, and Levi; and a special friend, Peggy Harris. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 9, at the graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with Bill Dollar officiating. Chad Douglas Rexrode

Chad Douglas Rexrode, age 45, of Shiloh, GA, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at St. Frances Hospital, Columbus. Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Bethesda Baptist Church in Ellerslie, GA. Interment followed in the Old Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Tuesday evening at Bethesda Baptist Church. Chad was born May 31, 1971 in Atlanta, the son of Patty Grant Wallace and John M. Rexrode. He was a 1989 graduate of Harris County High School and earned Associates Degrees from Southern Polytechnic State University, Marietta, GA and West Georgia Technical College, LaGrange, GA. He was currently working on his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering at Everglades University. Chad began his working life at Milliken Mills through Ranstad and later became a real estate agent at Harvest Hills Realty in Harris County. For the past three years, Chad worked as a Project Manager for Pratt and Whitney in Columbus. He was a former member of Wynnbrook Baptist Church in Columbus and was attending Bethesda Baptist Church in Ellerslie. Chad was an excellent wood craftsman. He had built new homes and remodeled his own. He was a talented vocalist and enjoyed golf. Survivors include his wife, Amy Turner Rexrode; his daughter, Madeline Rose Rexrode; his son, Andrew Douglas Rexrode, all of Shiloh; his parents Patty (Tom) Wallace of Shiloh and Johnny (Melanie) Rexrode of Sharpsburg; his sister, Angie Bussa of Cumming, GA; his paternal grandmother, Ruth Rexrode of Peachtree City, GA; his mother and father-in-law, Mike and Ginger Turner of Shiloh; his sister-in-law, Patti Glover of Spring Hill, TN; his brother-in-law, Michael (Danielle) Turner of Cumming and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. 1st Sgt. Charles Francis Waller

1st Sgt. Charles Francis Waller, USMC (Ret.), age 86, of LaGrange, Ga, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born Nov. 4, 1930, in a log cabin on a farm near LaGrange, Ga to the late Charles Samuel Sr. and Pearl Cardwell Waller. He was a Marine’s Marine. 1st Sgt. Charles F. Waller served 30 years in the United States Marine Corps with combat tours in Korea and Vietnam. He was a veteran of the Chosin Reservoir and the Tet Offensive, a Korean prisoner of war and also the Marine Detachment 1st Sgt. on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt CVA42. Charles was the Charter Commandant of the PFC George Eiland Detachment 1040 of the Marine Corps League, LaGrange, Ga, and was named Veteran of the Year 2016. He served his community through the Marine Corps League, Toys for Tots, Veterans Council, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, VFW and The LaGrange Optimists Club. Following retirement he operated his family’s business, The Cake Box of LaGrange. He was a long time member of Loyd Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Gwen Waller, LaGrange, Ga; four daughters, Ruby Morris, Yuma, Az; Susanne Wall (Charles), Carrollton, Ga; Mae Waller-Turner (John “Trez”), Leesville, SC; Hazel Sosebee (Thomas), Rainbow City, Al; one son, Charles S. Waller III (Tracy), LaGrange, Ga; three step daughters, Theresa Dillard, LaGrange, Ga; Shannon Kellow, Tavares, Fl; Rebecca Boyce, LaGrange, Ga; 17 grandchildren including, Charles Morris and John Morris III of Queen Creek, Az; Jessica Harms of Summerville, SC; Jon William Wall and Samuel Wall of Carrollton, Ga; Carol Waller, Elizabeth Waller, Susanne Holloway and Sammy Crowe, all of LaGrange, Ga; 8 great grandchildren and one sister, Suzanne Smith (Clarence), Boerne, Tx. He was preceded in death by his previous wife, Norma Lee Waller and a brother, Samuel Waller. Funeral Services for 1st Sgt. Charles F. Waller (Ret.) was held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, April 5th, at the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Chapel. Dr. Rix Threadgill officiated. The interment followed on the family plot in Shadowlawn Cemetery with full military honors. The family received friends at the funeral home Tuesday, April 4th, from 5 until 7 P.M. John Tillman Smith

Mr. John Tillman Smith, age 79, of LaGrange, GA passed away Monday, April 3, 2017 at Wellstar West Georgia Hospice. Mr. Smith was born July 25, 1937 in Heard County, GA, son of the late Arthur Jackson Smith and Annie Mae Pittman Smith.  He was Baptist by faith and was employed with Milliken as a truck driver until his retirement, and later worked for Vaughn Cartage. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Smith enjoyed gardening, fishing, and the outdoors. He loved cooking and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carlene Smith; son, Paul Booker; seven siblings. Survivors include his sons, Tim Booker, Arthur Smith, and Rick Smith; grandchildren, Daniel Browning, Shelly Booker, Chrissy Booker, Sammy Booker, Toney Booker, Erica Tracy, Savannah Smith, and Jacob Smith; numerous great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The Gathering of family and friends were held  on Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Jerry Scarborough and Reverend Jimmy McMillian officiating. Burial will follow in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery.
