Mrs. Ann Lunsford Monteith, of the Harrisonville Community of Troup County, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017, at her home. Born November 6, 1936, Mrs. Monteith was the daughter of the late P.L. and Lucile (Lucy) Morgan Lunsford. She was a lifelong resident of Troup County and retired as manager of the Hogansville branch of Newnan Savings Bank. She was a former member of the Hogansville Pilot Club and was the first female member of the Hogansville Kiwanis Club, but caring for her family and being involved in her church were the most important parts of her life. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Ray Monteith; sons and daughters in-law, Tim and Denise Monteith, Scott and Pam Monteith, all of Harrisonville; daughter and son in-law, Patti and Allen Hunt of LaGrange; grandchildren, Patricia (Jim) Kelly, Timmy (Julie) Monteith, Holly Monteith, Adam (Amber) Monteith, Jacob (Malorie) Monteith, Zachary Monteith, Whitney (Jacob) Humphries, Duncan (Tyler) Moffitt; and 13 great-grandchildren. The funeral service was conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 15, at Baptist Tabernacle Church in LaGrange. The Reverend Jimmy McMillian and the Reverend Frank Sledge officiated and interment was in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville. David George Speet
David George Speet, age 76, of Manchester, Ga., passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Warm Springs Medical Center in Warm Springs, Ga. Memorial services were held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home in Manchester. Rev. Dee Adamson officiated. The family received friends prior to the service, from 10:30 until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Speet was born June 8, 1940 in Holland, Michigan, the son of George A. Speet and Irene Sebestyen Speet. He was retired as a Medical Technologist for Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. He received his Medical Tech Degree from Grand Rapids Junior College and served his internship at Pontiac General Hospital in Pontiac, Mi. and Broward General Medical Center. He was a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and was an avid collector of 16 millimeter films. Survivors include his wife, Luanne Prophet Speet of Manchester; two sisters, Carole Morison of Pleasant Hill, Ca., Jill Wolfson (Phil) of Palm City Fl., and several nieces and nephews. Arthur Wayne Loyd
Arthur Wayne Loyd passed away Wednesday April 12, 2017 at Hospice in LaGrange, Ga. after a long illness. He had dedicated his life to serving the Lord, his family and friends. Mr. Loyd was one of four children born to the late Arthur Loyd and Myrtle Lucille Courtney Loyd of Pine Mountain Valley, GA. His siblings include brothers Don (Iris) and Kenneth (Martha) Loyd of Harris County, GA and a sister the late Vivian (Harold) Walker. He graduated from Jordan High School in Columbus, Ga in 1959 and Southern Union in Opelika, AL. He worked many years in Lanett Mill as a fixer, supervisor and trainer, he was a dedicated hardworking man. His favorite pastimes was fishing and eating ice cream. He was married for 47 years to the late Wanda Bullard Loyd from Lanett. They lived in LaFayette and Valley, AL. He enjoyed assisting her with catering and decorating cakes. He was a dedicated husband and cared for her through a long battle of severe Rheumatoid Arthritis. He was the father of two children Sharon Loyd Scott (Steve) of Hamilton, GA and Darrell Loyd (Deena McManus Loyd) of Wadley, AL. He was a faithful member of the churches where he served the Lord, including Evangel Temple A/G in Valley, Jackson Memorial Baptist in Lafayette and most recently Community Chapel Church in Pine Mountain Valley, GA. In 2011, he married June Barber Loyd of Pine Mountain. For the six years prior to his death he loved and cared for June, her two sons Tommy (Sandra) Barber of Lanett, AL and Greg (Joann) Barber of LaGrange, GA and their families. Mr. Loyd had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and children he mentored through the years. The family received family and friends at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley, AL between 6-8 PM EST Thursday night. The Rev. Ricky Lipp and Archbishop Ken McNatt officiated a home going celebration at 2 PM EST on Friday, April 14, at the Community Chapel Church in Pine Mountain Valley, GA. Ms. Mary Jane Westfall, age 57, a resident of Beulah, AL passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at East Alabama Medical Center at Lanier. A funeral mass was held on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 9:00 AM EST from Holy Family Catholic Church in Lanett. Father Gali Balaswamy officiated. A private family burial followed at Johnson Memorial Gardens. Ms. Westfall was born in Frankfurt, Germany. She worked at Panera Bread in Auburn and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Survivors include her daughter, Heidi Westfall; mother, Irmgard Westfall; sister, Ann Lassiter; brothers, Toby, Jeffery, Clay, & George Westfall; grandchildren, Ayden & Christina; and several nieces & nephews. Tina LaShaz Houston Cameron
Ms. Tina LaShaz Houston Cameron was born November 2, 1966 in West Point, Georgia to the late, Luther and Ouida Houston. She accepted Christ at an early age at Saint John Baptist Church. She later joined Bethlehem Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her passing. On Monday, April 10, 2017, Tina departed this life at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Georgia and entered into Eternal Rest. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death three sisters, Valerie Houston, Cherrylea Jackson, Valetha Houston; two brothers, LaKetha Houston and LaKerin Houston; and two nephews, Mondrell Houston and Mario Houston. Tina leaves to cherish her memories, her loving children, O’Mont (Letitia) Houston, Lanett, AL; Shaquenia Cameron and Curtis Cameron, Jr., LaGrange, GA; three grandchildren, U’lysia “Deary” Williams, Jalaya Cameron, and Isaac Cameron; two brothers, Luther (Emma) Houston, Jr., West Point, GA and Jonathan Houston, LaGrange, GA; one sister, Gloria (James) McQueen; five aunts, Teretha Cumberlander and Gladys Houston, both of West Point, GA; Phenia (Henry) Hanford and Olivia Cumberlander, both of Atlanta, GA; Jessie Mae Cumberlander, Indianapolis, IN; Louise Walker, Hamilton, GA; her loving longtime companion, Fredrick Bridges; and special friends, Larry and Beulah Mae Hill, Cwanna Ellis, Janice Moore, Mary Moss, and Elaine Ward. The Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church, West Point. Dr. W.T. Edmondson officiated. Burial followed at St. John Cemetery. The family was at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and James McQueen at 43 Horseshoe Bend and received friends in the Chapel of Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home on Friday from 6-7.

Martha Kaye Copeland
Mrs. Martha Kaye Copeland, age 63, of LaGrange, GA passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center. Mrs. Copeland was born May12, 1953 in Augusta, GA to the late Jim E. Dean and Fannie Alice Gravett Dean. She was Baptist by faith and retired from Kleen-Tex. Mrs. Copeland enjoyed sewing, fishing, and the beach. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family and she will be greatly missed by all that know her. Survivors include her husband, Mitch Copeland; son, Herman (Patty) Toney; daughters, Misty Toney (Michael Bailey), Lasha (Allen) Bruce and Donna (Tony) Bennett; sister, Joyce Ledford; grandchildren, Camren, Bethany, River, Savannah, Ayden, and Cody; niece, Tonya (Rick) Massie; other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, April 15, 2017 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. Burial followed in Meadoway Memory Gardens.
