Miss Angela N. Duke, age 78, of LaGrange, passed away, Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at LaGrange Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Miss Duke was born May 21, 1938, in LaGrange, daughter of the late L. D. Duke and Hazel Evans Duke. A lifelong resident of LaGrange, she was a very talented and much sought after seamstress and was a member of the Church of God. Survivors include her sister in-law, Linda Duke of LaGrange; and a number of nieces and nephew, great-nieces and great-nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 1, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Leonard Hodge will officiate and interment will be in the Mountville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Monday. Reese (Buck) Bowen
Mr. Reese C. (Buck) Bowen, Jr., age 87, of Hogansville, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at The Oaks of Carrollton. A resident of Troup County most of his life, Mr. Bowen was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He spent his life in the textile industry, starting with Callaway Mills and working with Milliken and Company and Kleen-Tex Industries before establishing his own firm, Botex Sales, Inc. in Hogansville. He was also instrumental in setting up a textile plant in China. Mr. Bowen was a member of Wehadkee Baptist Church and was a former member of the Hogansville City Council. An avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. He loved his family dearly, and is remembered as a good person, generous employer, and true friend. Survivors include his daughter, Jenny Dale Smith and her husband Walter of Villa Rica; son, Jeffrey Bowen of Hogansville; daughter in-law, Donna Bowen of LaGrange; sister, Betty Adams of Glenn, brothers and sisters in-law, Billy and Martha Bowen, Gregory and Delores Bowen, all of LaGrange, Jerome and Margie Bowen of Roanoke, AL; grandchildren, Jessica Bowen, Justin Bowen, Michael Bowen, Ryan Bowen, and Erin Smith; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Echols Bowen and his son, Stanley Bowen. The funeral service was conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 29, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Duwayne (Wayne) Moon
Mr. Duwayne (Wayne) Moon, age 82, of LaGrange, passed away on April 27, 2017 at the WellStar West Georgia Hospice. Mr. Moon was born on November 23, 1934 in Randolph County, Alabama to the late Leon Moon and Clois Holloway Moon. Mr. Moon worked for many years at Southern Ambulance Builders and was a Veteran of the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Willie B. Moon. Survivors include his wife, Imajene Townsend Moon of LaGrange; son, Richard Wayne Moon of LaGrange; extended family and friends. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel. Rev. Charles Chapman officiated. Interment followed at Shadowlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Emma J Brand Cipolla, age 88, of LaGrange, passed away peacefully Thursday night surrounded by her family. Mrs. Brand Cipolla was born December 13, 1928 In Roopville the daughter of the late Moses Leafus & Mary Liza Street. Mrs. Brand Cipolla had made her home in LaGrange for the past 71 years and was a charter member of the Baptist Tabernacle. She was retired from Milliken and Company’s Kex plant. She was predeceased by her husband’s Marrell Brand and Frank Cipolla, A Son, Gary Brand and Sisters Geneva Yates and Mizelle Forbus. Survivors include her daughter Glenda Brand Turner of LaGrange, GA, her sons Douglas & Deena Brand, LaGrange, GA, Gregory & Peggy Brand, Hogansville, GA, and Lamon Brand, Leesburg, GA. Her grandchildren includes Kay Terrell, Mariana Martin, Lesley White, Katie Turner, David Drake, Jr. and nine great-grandchildren. Brother M. L. (Marty) Street, LaGrange, Georgia. Annie Clyde Ridgeway
Annie Clyde Ridgeway was born January 5, 1946 to the late, Annie Lee McFerson and Rev. Robert McFerson. She confessed her faith at a young age and was baptized at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Standing Rock, Alabama. On Saturday, April 22, 2017 at WellStar West Georgia Hospice, Annie Clyde Ridgeway passed away. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Clark and Dorothy Williams. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her devoted husband, Charles Ridgeway; two daughters, Annie Mae (Chauncey) Smith and Naomi Ridgeway Williams all of LaGrange, GA; six grandchildren, Alvin Ogletree and Shaquavia K. Smith both of LaGrange, GA; Chauncey (Myrtis) Smith, Houston, TX; Erica Williams, Darrius Williams, and Acrecia Williams all of LaGrange, GA; three sisters, Rose Poole, Annie R. Beliveau, and Katherine McFerson all of LaGrange, GA; one brother, Robert McFerson; one brother in-law, Gary Ridgeway; two aunts, Alzadie Rutherford of Cleveland, OH and Margret (Fred) Amos of LaGrange, GA; a special god-son, Trevor Leslie; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. The Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday at 3:00 at New Solomon Grove Baptist Church. Pastor Ervin Smith officiated. Burial followed at the Church Cemetery.

Leroy “Pickle James” James
Mr. Leroy “Pickle James” James, of Valley, AL passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Leroy James, the son of the late Mr. William James and Pearl Felix James, was born March 3, 1946 in Chambers County, AL On Thursday, April 13, 2017 he departed this life, peacefully, at his home in Valley, AL. “Pickle James”, as he was known to many was a product of the West Point Public School System. He attended Harrison High School. He confessed Christ at an early age and united with the Bethlehem Baptist Church West Point, GA. In later years he attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Atlanta, GA. He was currently attending the Mt. Zion A.M.E. on a regular base with his family and friends.
Leroy retired from West Point Home with many years of service. “Pickle James” enjoying watching the Weather Channel. He was a avid sports fan. He often came to West Point to visit and spend quality time with his friend, Willie P. Fears, who preceded him death. Leroy was preceded in death by one brother, William Scott and four sisters, Mattie W. Scott, Eddie M. Crimm, Cora M. Jackson, and Frances Bledsoe.
His memories will forever be cherish by: six children, Kim Dooley, Yolanda James-Carter, Edward James, Valley, AL; Leroy (India)James, Jr., Jacksonville, FL, Jonas Valention(Charesse)James, Atlanta, GA; step-daughter, Jacqueline Ramsey, Valley, AL, 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. The funeral was held at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Opelika, AL at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. Burial will be held in the Church Cemetery. Ministers: Rev. Wendell Jones, Sr., Rev. Richard Carter, Jr., Rev. James Gresham, Rev. Vernon Carter, officiated.

Jane Elizabeth Prather
Miss. Jane Elizabeth Prather, age 71, of LaGrange, GA, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017 at West Georgia Hospice. Miss. Prather was born September 20, 1945 in LaGrange, GA daughter of the late Benny Lee Prather and Alva Mae Mathis Prather. Miss Prather was loved by many. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. Survivors include three sisters, Myrna Welborn, Francis Buchino, and Brenda Ward; also numerous nieces and nephews. The Gathering of Family and friends was held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm at the funeral home. The Graveside service was held at 3:00 pm at Hillview Annex. Rev.
