Mr. Ron L. Galloway, age 68, of Hogansville, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017, at Hospice LaGrange. Mr. Galloway was born April 14, 1949, son of the late Betty Smith Galloway and the late Raford Galloway. A 1968 graduate of Hogansville High School, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, was Methodist by faith, and had lived in Hogansville most of his life. Ron retired from FedEx after 35 years of service and was also a licensed real estate agent for Southern Realty Ltd. He enjoyed gathering with his high school class, attending auctions, showing and selling homes, and especially being with his family and friends. Survivors include his sister, Jenny Norwood and Blake Shelnutt; brother, Steve and Pam Galloway; sister in-law, Linda Galloway, all of Hogansville; half-sister, Lisa and Ricky Tenney of Rockmart; nieces and nephews, Karen (Brian) Trevena, Troy (Kacy) Galloway, Wendy (Eric) Scott, Wayne (Michelle) Norwood, Kerrie (Brandon) Smith; great-nieces and great-nephews; and a special friend, Jackie Villani. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Galloway. The funeral service was conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 3, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Kevin Wegienka and the Reverend Randall Hodge officiated and interment was held in Myrtle Hill Cemetery, with military honors. Phillip Edward Lawrence
Phillip Edward Lawrence, age 77, of Manchester, GA passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017 at home with family and friends by his side. Mr. Lawrence was born August 7, 1939 in Vergennes, VT the son of Philip Lewis Lawrence and Mary Elizabeth Bunch Lawrence. He joined the U. S. Army in 1959 and was assigned to the 9th Infantry Combat Support Company at Fort Benning, where he met his wife Sylvia June. In 1961, he was assigned to the Yukon Command in Fairbanks, AK where his daughter Lori Ann was born. In 1964, he returned to the 9th Infantry at Ft. Benning, and in 1968, he was assigned to Camp Sabre, Korea where he served a one year tour and returned to Ft. Benning. In February 1972, he suffered debilitating injuries from a motorcycle accident. After spending the rest of the year at Walter Reed Hospital in Bethesda, MD and later the Veterans Hospital in Dublin, GA, he was given a medical retirement and returned home to Manchester where he lived for the past 44 years being cared for by his wife Syliva June. They were members of Trinity Baptist Church. Funeral services for Ret. SSG Philip Edward Lawrence were held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home, Manchester. Interment followed at Meriwether Memory Gardens with full military honors. Rev. Jimmie Chapman officiated the services, assisted by Dr. Will Cole. The Pallbearers were the deacons of Trinity Baptist Church, Manchester. The family received friends an hour and half prior to the service at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife Sylvia June Lawrence of Manchester; his daughter and son-in-law Lori Ann and Speedy Boutwell of Newnan and numerous nieces and nephews and his grand dog Riva. Jimmie Ray Sanders, age 68, of Five Points, Alabama passed away on May 1, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Sanders was born on April 3, 1949 to the late Marvin William Sanders and Myrl Irene Benefield Sanders in Bowden, GA. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and worked for Buddy Moore Trucking. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Amason Sanders of Five Points, Alabama; brother, Milford Lee Sanders (Donna) of Cusseta; sisters, Irene Cook (Don) of LaGrange, Faye Hill of West Point. Family received friends for visitation at Grace Baptist Church on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 pm. Funeral service followed at 2:00 pm. Rev. Donnie Benefield officiated. Ryan Turner, age 29, of LaGrange, GA passed away on April 30, 2017. He was born on April 23,1988 and was preceded in death by his father, the late Calvin Keith Turner, Sr. Ryan was a mechanic at Valley Auto Service in West Point, GA. Survivors include his brother, Calvin Turner Jr. and his wife April Turner of Lanett, Alabama; sister, Christie Walker and her husband Shane Walker of West Point; mother, Stacey Welch Czaja; grandparents, Resa Rebecca Mickey and Frances Belliveau; cousin, Brian Smith of Woodstock, GA; nieces and nephews, Steven, Dylan, Casey, Haley, Kristen; extended family and friends.

Mr. Weyman Davis, age 79, of Lanett, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, April 25th, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Davis was born in Fairfax, Alabama on November 12th, 1937 to the late Paul Davis and Ella Geneva Weldon. Mr. Davis graduated from Valley High School where he was a varsity football and varsity baseball player. Upon graduating high school, he married his wife of 61 years, Janelle Adamson Davis. He and his wife were members of West End Baptist Church. Mr. Davis and his wife, Janelle, owned and operated the Courtesy Variety store that was first established in Lanett, Alabama and later moved to Valley. He later went on to work and retired from Batson-Cook in West Point, Georgia. In his younger years, Mr. Davis was an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janelle Adamson Davis; children, Paula (Barry) Maddux, Gary (Jackie) Davis; grandchildren, Megan Maddux (Mark) Hall, Cody (Tanya) Davis, Kristen (Edwin) Houston; great-grandchildren, Camryn Davis, Kyndall Davis, Tucker Davis, Jayda Finch, Kaydence Houston, Kayden Houston, Mekayla Houston, Makenzie Houston, and Rylie Yates. Funeral services were held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. EDT at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment followed in Fairfax Cemetery. Robert Wayne O’Neal, Sr., age 43, passed away Wednesday April 26, 2017 at his residence. Robert was born November 30, 1973 in Talladega, AL. He was formerly employed by Duke’s Electric. Survivors include his mother, Nina (Aldo) Vidal; father, Jerry (Francis) O’Neal; daughter, Amanda Paige O’Neal; son, Robert Wayne O’Neal, Jr; and a brother, Jason (Becky) O’Neal.
