Darlene Sams

Patricia Darlene Sams, age 53, of LaGrange, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center, of injuries received in an auto accident. Ms. Sams was born January 22, 1964, in LaGrange, daughter of the late Donald and Janice Hanner Sams. A lifelong resident of Troup County, she was an accounting graduate of Kerr Business College. She considered caring for her family to be the most important part of her life and she loved saving and using coupons. Survivors include her children, Kevin Sams, Jennifer Biles and her husband Jon, and Jessica Leona Sams; brothers, Tim Sams and his wife Kim, and Greg Sams, all of LaGrange; six grandchildren that she loved and provided for as a mother, Elijah Sams, Katelyn Sams, Gabriel Sams, Layla Sams, Ella Grace Biles, and Jacob Sams. Karen Parham

Mrs. Karen Parham, age 74, of Hogansville, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017, at her home. Mrs. Parham was born May 23, 1942, in Hogansville, daughter of the late James Medley and Margaret Teal Medley Smoot. She had been a member of the Hogansville Pilot Club and the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Carrie Teal Circle and the women’s fellowship group. She was a former City Clerk of Hogansville and was employed as a teacher’s aide at the Burwell Program for the Troup County School System prior to her retirement. Survivors include her daughter and son in-law, Amy and Jeff Sheppard of Hogansville; sister, Sherry Edge of Morrow; brother and sister in-law, Lanny and Sondra Medley of Roswell, NM; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Parham, and her step-father, Arthur Smoot. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Willow Heim will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Tuesday night. Anthony Blake Decoff

Mr. Anthony Blake Decoff, age 22, of LaGrange, passed away Sunday at Columbus Medical Center. Blake was born June 12, 1995 in Crisp County Georgia the son of Anthony John and Allyson Laurie Decoff. Blake was an electrician with ETI and proudly served his county in the United States Marine Corp and currently in the Marine reserves. Survivors include his parents Anthony John & Allyson Laurie Decoff, LaGrange, GA, brothers B. J. Weldon, Cordele, GA, Brad Weldon, Warner Robins, GA, paternal grandparents Donald & Dianna Decoff, Heard County, GA, aunts and uncles Kelly & Tony Larkin, Cordele, GA, Kim & Stanley Stephens, Cordele, GA, Vicky &Richard Reagan, Shannon, GA, Linda & Rexx Shattach, Chugiak, Alaska, Kathy Ratliff, Americus, GA, and Andrew & Jakie Decoff, Pitts, GA. A visitation was held on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock from the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home. Cremation followed the visitation.

Doris Edith Lankford

Mrs. Doris Edith Lankford, age 90, of LaGrange, passed away at LaGrange Nursing & Health Rehab after an extended illness. Mrs. Lankford was born July 22, 1926 in LaGrange the daughter of the late George Washington and Epsy Daliska Spate Griffin. She was a member of Long Cane Methodist Church and a former employee of Callaway Mills Company and Kaydon. She was pre-deceased by her husband Leon Lane Lankford, her brothers and sisters, Hammett Griffin, Lucille Bassett, and June Reddish Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Michael Wayne & Stephanie Adams Lankford, Douglasville, GA, grandchildren Tech Sergeant Wesley and  (Terri) Lankford, USAF, Matthew Lankford, Longmont , CO, great-grandchildren Nick Lankford, Alex Lankford, Zack Lankford, and Shawn Lankford, brother and sister-in-law Ralph & Frances Griffin, LaGrange, GA, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Lankford were held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home. Reverend Jerry Ledbetter officiated. The family received friends at the funeral home Tuesday afternoon from 2 pm until 3 pm. Interment followed at Restlawn Memory Gardens. Betty J. Perdue

Mrs. Betty J. Perdue, age 84, of LaGrange, passed away Saturday morning at Hospice LaGrange surrounded by her family. Betty was born July 17, 1932 in LaGrange the daughter of the late Dewey Lee and Mary Elizabeth Pike Brown. She was a charter member of Rosemont Baptist Church and was a former employee of Callaway Mills Company and teacher’s assistant at Troup Jr. High. Survivors include her husband Roy Perdue, LaGrange, GA, daughter Kimberly Perdue Veon, LaGrange, GA, sons and daughters-in-law Skip & Sandy Perdue, Ellerslie, Ga and Phil & Ruth Perdue, LaGrange, GA,

nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and sister and brother-in-law Libby Brown Fouse (Bill) Anderson Indiana. Funeral services for Mrs. Betty J. Perdue were held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday from Rosemont Baptist Church. Reverend Max McCord and Rev. Adam Camp officiated. Interment followed in Shadowlawn Cemetery. Roswell Lynn Thompson

Roswell Lynn Thompson, age 61, passed away on May 6, 2017 after injuries sustained in a fall in October. He was born March 17, 1956 in LaGrange, Georgia. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Norris Thompson Railey; his maternal grandparents, William Obie Norris and Beatrice Cantrell Norris. Mr. Thompson is survived by his sister, Stacy (Lee) Cline of LaGrange; brothers, Keith Thompson and Casey Thompson; and step-Father, Clyde Railey of LaGrange. The loves of his life were his nieces and nephews and nine great-nieces and great-nephews. He was Baptist by faith being baptized at an early age at East Side Baptist Temple. Mr. Thompson was an avid Braves baseball fan, Georgia Bulldogs and LaGrange High football fan. His passion was taking an early morning walk on the beach. A Memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 4 p.m. at Loyd Presbyterian Church on Glass Bridge Road with Dr. Rix Threadgill officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Billy Mark Meeks

Mr. Billy Mark Meeks, age 47, of LaGrange, GA passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017 at West Georgia Medical Center. Billy was born November 13, 1969 in Carrollton, GA, son of Billy Waylon Meeks and the late Nora Mae Watson Meeks.  He was employed with M&M Enterprise. Survivors in addition to his father, Billy Waylon Meeks include his daughter, Jessica Meeks and fiancé Kyle Duke; son, Billy Bryant Meeks and fiancé Taylor Douglas; brothers, Wayne Meeks and Jake Meeks(Courtney Funderburk); sisters, Debbie Meeks, Wanda Johnson, and Ann Phillips; grandchildren, Calvin Porritt, Logan Meeks, Elizabeth Mae Meeks, and Charles Kooper Duke; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Pastor Joyce Hancock officiating. Burial will follow in Veal Baptist Church Cemetery, Ephesus, GA. The gathering of family and friends were held on Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
