Merlyn Ronnie Meacham

Mr. Merlyn Ronnie Meacham, age 68, of LaGrange, passed away on May 8, 2017 at the WellStar West Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Meacham was born on May 24, 1948 in Newnan to the late W. Fred Meacham and Mildred Langley Meacham. He retired from BellSouth. Survivors include his wife, Dottie Joyce Pattillo Meacham of LaGrange; son, Ronnie Alan Meacham and his wife Tonya of LaGrange; daughter, Christy Harry and her husband Todd of LaGrange; brothers, Mike Meacham and his wife Tami of LaGrange and Matthew Meacham of LaGrange; grandchildren, Mallory Parker and her husband Justin, Kelsea Meacham, John Meacham, Taylor Harry and Rachel Harry; great grandchildren, Maddie, Laney and Griffin Parker; extended family and friends. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel. Rev. Anthony Hovey and Rev. Frank Sledge officiated. Rogerl Harrington

Mr. Rogerl Harrington passed away on May 3, 2017 at the WellStar West Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Harrington was born on May 30, 1946 to the late Arthur Lee Harrington and Thelma Christine Foskey Harrington. He was a Crew Chief for J. Hugh Camp and Associates for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Sean Kennedy Harrington and a brother, Ronald Harrington. Survivors include his sons, Lucas Blade Harrington and step son, Dennis C. Smith; daughters, Rogerlyn Hope Wilson and Shelly Carol Harrington; brothers, Wayne Harrington and Billy Harrington; sister, Jaquline Folds; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; extended family and friends.   Family memorial services will be held.

Sue Lila Pike Smith

Sue Pike Smith, of Hogansville, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2017 at the WellStar West GA Health of LaGrange. Mrs. Smith was born on December 31, 1939 to the late Buford Pike and Salley Whatley in Fitzgerald, GA. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberley Slaughter; bother, Tommy Pike; sisters, Polly Nill, Mary Turner, Jackie Hill. Survivors include her sons, Timmy Slaughter, Randy Slaughter (Sue), Scott Slaughter (Shirley), Kenneth Slaughter; daughters, Debra Futch (Jimmy), Pam Blackstock, Angela Spicer (Randall); sisters, Brenda Farrow, Vera Whatley; twenty-two grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel. Family will receive friends starting at noon until service time. Martha L. Davis

Martha L. Davis, age 77, of Lineville, Alabama passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Lineville Health and Rehab in Lineville, Alabama. She is survived by her two sons, Jody (Susan) Davis of Auburn, AL and Jay Davis of Wedowee, AL; two grandchildren, Jody Lee Davis of Auburn, AL and Anna Davis of Birmingham, AL; two sisters, Betty Shirley and Sue (Ray) Watson, both of Valley, AL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jewel C. Hawkins; her father, Richard R. Lyons; her step-father, David Hawkins; and her granddaughter, Jennifer Davis of Auburn, AL. She was born on May 4, 1940 in Welch, AL. She was a devout Baptist and a greatly caring and loving mother who was always there for her family. She had a very pleasant and outgoing personality and loved the outdoors, camping, flowers, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. She was affectionately referred to by her family as “Aunt Mop” and Boop”. Funeral services were held on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 2:00 PM (EST) at the graveside in Shawmut Cemetery in Valley, AL. Mr. Russell Henry officiated. No visitation is planned. Robert Evans, Jr.

Mr. Robert Evans, Jr. was born January 4, 1940 to the late, Robert and Blanche Evans in Newnan (Coweta County) Georgia. On Saturday, May 6, 2017; Mr. Evans entered into Eternal Rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Hazel Lee Evans; one sister, Florence Houston; three brothers, Jimmy Evans, Danny Evans, Leroy Evans, and close friend, Joe Meredith. He leaves to cherish his memories, three children, Bernard Evans, Barvaria (Kerry) Smith, Toconna Evans; eight wonderful grandchildren, Qcynthia Evans, Carlneshia (Carlo) Luke, Keon (Amber) Harris, Prez Evans, Shadimon Harrison, Alaysia Harrison, Tia Tucker, and KaBrenna Smith; four beautiful great grandchildren, Justiana Wilson, Korie Harris, Xavion Evans, and Karcynn Harris; several brothers and sisters, Curtis Evans, Bobie Newson, Amy P. Torian, Alice F. Ward, and Patrica Arnold; sister-in-law, Daisy McClendon; two brothers-in-law, Charlie Cameron and Nathaniel Cameron; very special friends, Mike Williams, Jackie Johnson, Yvone Williams, and Adriene Grier. The Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, May 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Confidence Baptist Church. Pastor Bridget Dixon will officiate. Burial will follow at Southview Cemetery. Andrew Garrett

Mr. Andrew Garrett, son of the late, Sarah Ann and J. T. Shank was born March 22, 1946 in Heard County, Georgia. At an early age, he united with the Solomon Grove Baptist Church in LaGrange, Georgia. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Clydale Garrett on November 28, 1964. Andrew retired from the United Army Master Sergent E-8 * Master Gardner. Quietly and peacefully, he departed this earthly realm and entered into Eternal Rest on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at his home in Columbus, Georgia. In addition to his parents, and his loving wife, Clydale; he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Lennie Robinson; uncles, James B. Jones and Tero Jones; aunts, Manetha Garrett, Ora Lee Harris, and Jimmie Ora Garrett. He leaves to cherish the memories of a fruitful life, three loving daughters: Becky (Randy) Tudor, Evans, GA; Andretta Thomas, Augusta, GA; and Annette (Bryan) Williams, North Augusta, SC; seven grandchildren whom he adored, Amanda, Octavia, Randy, III, James, Jr., Tyeshia, Brittany, and Christian; one loving devoted brother and his wife, George (Vinnie) Shank, LaGrange, GA; loving sister, Jimmie Garrett, Kennesaw, GA; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Tammie (Rev. Harold) Winters and Ms. Jimmie Swint, all of Carrollton, GA; one brother-in-law, Mr. Edgar (Gwen) Robinson, Jr., Atlanta, GA; ten great grandchildren, aunts, Charsley Jones and Jennie Mae Jones, LaGrange, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, incredible cousins, awesome Army buddies, doctors, caregivers, and friends. The Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday at 11:00 at Solomon Grove Baptist Church. Rev. J.R. Ware officiated. Burial followed at the City Cemetery, Carrolton, GA.
