Sue Smith

Mrs. Sue Smith, of Hogansville, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the WellStar West GA Health of LaGrange. Mrs. Smith was born on December 31, 1939 to the late Buford Pike and Sallie Whatley Pike in Fitzgerald, GA. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberley Slaughter; brother, Tommy Pike; sisters, Polly Hill, Mary Turner, Jackie Hill. Survivors include her sons, Timmy Slaughter, Randy Slaughter (Sue), Scott Slaughter (Shirley), Kenneth Slaughter; daughters, Debra Futch (Jimmy), Pam Blackstock, Angela Spicer (Randall); sisters, Brenda Farrow, Vera Whatley;

twenty-two grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Funeral service were held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel. Family received friends at noon until service time. Dennis L. Smith

Dennis L. Smith, 70, of Covington, GA passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Hospice LaGrange. Mr. Smith was born October 11, 1946 in Atlanta, GA, son of the late Linwood Smith and Virginia Reed Smith. He was employed as a sales representative for General Wholesale Company. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Phillips Smith. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Bebe and Rick McMahan; son, Philip West; grandchildren, Lee McMahan, Maggie McMahan, McCray West, Mariah West, and Mason West; and cousins, including Butch and Donna Smith. Celebration of Life services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 15, 2017 in the Chapel of Striffler- Hamby Mortuary

with Reverend Rick McMahan officiating.

Graveside committal services will be 3:00 P.M. in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Stockbridge, GA. The gathering of family and friends will be on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

MRS. INEZ BAILEY

Mrs. Inez Moore Bailey, 84, of LaGrange, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017, at LaGrange Nursing and Rehab. Mrs. Bailey was born September 29, 1932, and was a lifelong resident of La-Grange. She retired as a private duty care giver and was a member of the First Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hillard Jefferson Bailey. Survivors include her daughters, Janice Popham and her husband Robert of Smyrna, and Barbara Yeley of Denison, TX; son, Jim Bailey and his fiancée Joyce Baldwin of Hogansville; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Monday, May 15, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Donald Boyd will officiate and interment will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Monday.

Margaret Pearson Hudgins

( February 05, 1934 – May 10, 2017 ). Margaret Pearson Hudgins, 83 of Pine Mountain Valley, GA died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Well Star West Georgia Medical Center, LaGrange, GA.

Private graveside services for Mrs. Hudgins where held at the Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Jonesboro, GA. Mrs. Hudgins was born February 5, 1934 in Luthersville, GA the daughter of Jessie Ira Pearson and Mary Rebecca Strickland Pearson.

She was a homemaker and the widow of Hubert Oscar Hudgins.

Mrs. Hudgins was a member of the Luthersville United Methodist Church. She is survived by her brothers J. M. (Barbara) Pearson of Pine Mountain Valley and Jack Pearson of Vidalia, GA; stepdaughter Debbie Hudgins of Fayetteville, step daughter-in-law Cathy Hudgins of Brunswick, GA; nieces and nephews.

Philip W. Parrish

Mr. Phillip W. Parrish, Sr., age 85, of Lanett, Alabama passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Parrish was born in Lanett, Alabama on November 8, 1931 to the late Clarence Parrish and Louise Stillwell Parrish. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Y. Parrish; son, Richard V. Parrish, Sr.; brother, Harold Parrish. Mr. Parrish was a member of the Lanett United Methodist Church. He was an air pilot who always enjoyed flying and building model airplanes. He was a mechanic and a service manager in the community for several years. He was the owner and operator of Phill’s Auto Service. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 2:00P.M. EDT at Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev.

Mark McGee officiating. The family will visit with friends at Hillcrest Cemetery immediately following the graveside service. Mr.

Parrish is survived by his children, Phillip W. Parrish, Jr., Montgomery; Linda “Dee Dee” (Bobby) Anderson, Lanett, William Cale (April) Parrish, Lanett; brother, Maxie Lawrence (Betty) Parrish, Pine Mountain, Georgia; grandchildren, Richard (Claudia) Parrish, Jr., Valley, Robert ‘Andy’ Anderson, Columbus, Georgia, Amy (Trey) Gilbert, Valley; great-grandchild, Justin Ty Gilbert; special pet and companion, “Mickey”. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Mr. Parrish’ memory to Chattahoochee Hospice.

Crystal Leigh Franks Wright

35, a resident of Lanett, AL passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM EST Saturday, May 13, 2017 from Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bogey Cotney officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM EST at the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Derick Wright, son, Lance Wright, father, Alan Franks, Sr.

She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister, who put others above herself. She was devoted to her church family and always had a loving smile. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Upper Room Church or to the Chambers County Relay For Life.
