Robie Howard Knight

Mr. Robie Howard Knight, age 70, of LaGrange, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2017 at his residence under hospice care.  Mr. Knight was born on March 7, 1947 in LaGrange to the late Herman Meier Knight and Lillie Viola Davis Knight.  He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Knight of San Francisco, California.  His remains will be taken to California for final disposition.  Higgins LaGrange Chapel is in charge of all arrangements for Mr. Knight.  Higgins LaGrange Chapel Funeral Home, 706-884-7117.

                           

Mr. Keun Bae Park

Mr. Keun Bae Park, age 56, of West Point, passed away on August 1, 2017 at the WellStar West Georgia Hospice.  Mr. Park was born on December 21, 1960 om Seoul. Korea to Keum DOng Park and Soon Kim Park.  He was an inspector with Just Tech.  Services will be announced by the Higgins LaGrange Chapel Funeral Home, 706-884-7117.

 

Dewey Chester “Red” Henderson

Mr. Dewey Chester (Red) Henderson, age 87, of 114 Lee Road 762 of Opelika, Alabama went to be with the Lord on August 2, 2017 at his home after a lengthy illness.  He was born in Cleburne County, Alabama on September 3, 1929, the son of the late J.W. and Lillie Mae Henderson.  He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in LaGrange, and worked for Edwards and McGehee in Auburn, Alabama for twenty six and a half years.  I addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jane Hyde and three brothers in law, Charlie Hyde, Wayne Holland and Herbert Haney.  He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Whitley Henderson; two daughters, Ann and Ralph Bess of Beaugard, Alabama and Lynn and Robert Musselwhite of Beaugard, Alabama; thee sons, Gene Henderson of Opelika, Alabama, James and Joanna Henderson of Opelika, Alabama and Kenneth and Regina Henderson of Opelika, Alabama; 24 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren; sister, Frances Holland of LaGrange; brother in law and sister in law, Billy and Dorothy Thompson of Bowdon, Georgia; brother in law, Frank Whitley of West Point.  Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Kennedy and Rev. Orman Harcrow officiating. Music will be provided by Ethan Holloway and Nathan Holloway.  Remains will lie in state at the church from 2:00 pm until service hour.  Interment will follow at Shadowlawn Cemetery.  Mr. Henderson’s remains will be taken to his home where the family will receive friends on Friday evening and all day on Saturday: 114 Lee Road 762, Opelika, Alabama.  His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.  Higgins LaGrange Chapel Funeral Home, 706-884-7117.

John Reid

Mr. John Wallace Reid, 93, of LaGrange passed away Thursday at Hospice LaGrange. Mr. Reid was born August 13, 1923 in LaGrange. He retired from The Georgia Department of Transportation as district engineer of the 3rd division (Thomaston). For the last 4 years Mr. Reid had been a resident of Poplar Creek Assisted Living.

3 great grandchildren: Daniel Reid, Joseph Reid and Kenleigh Reid
A private entombment will be held Friday at Shadowlawn Mausoleum.

NarQuevious “Nar-Nar” Tucker
Nar’Quevious Timandes Tucker was born October 9, 2002 to Carrsella Tucker and Cornelius Potts in LaGrange, Georgia. “Nar-Nar” was a graduate of Gardner Newman Middle School and a rising Freshman to LaGrange High School. He was very athletic and loved playing basketball and football. To know him was to love him, he never met a stranger. He loved his family with all his heart. On Sunday, July 30, 2017, Nar Nar was called home to play in a bigger game. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hattie and Henry Dowell; Thomas Potts and Lorretta Harrison. He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his mother, Carrsella Tucker; father, Cornelius Potts; three brothers, Cornelius Tucker, Kenyan Potts, all of LaGrange, GA; and Jaylin Potts, Atlanta, GA; two god-brothers, Michael Johnson and Hosea; grandmother, Vernice Tucker; aunts, Tabitha Willis, San Antonio, TX and Dana Jales, Dayton, OH; uncle, Marty Tucker; great aunts, Minnie (Amos) Ogletree; Samantha (Ronald) Turner, Teresa Ray, Charlene Harrison, Tina Harrison, Barbara Nelson, all of LaGrange, GA; Rudine Mathis, Atlanta, GA; great uncles, Kelvin Dowell, Erris (Cynthia) Dowell, Durley (Janice) Dowell, Virgil Gilbert, Jacky Hixson, all of LaGrange, GA; and Reginald (Sharon) Tucker, Las Vegas, NV; special friends, AJ Johnson, Reginald Allen, and AJ Taylor. The Celebration of Life Service was on Saturday at 1:00 PM at New Community Church. Pastor Michael Jackson officiated. Burial followed at Southview Cemetery.
The family will be at their home at 205 DeGroat Street.

 

Rodriguez McGee

Rodriquez Rashod McGee was born October 3, 1989 in Valley, Alabama to Dionne McGee McCord and Wayne Dodson.He grew up in West Point, Georgia; and was a member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church.Rashod graduated from Troup County Comprehensive High School where he participated in many school activities.Christ was dear to his heart. His life was joyous, his infectious smile brightened the room. Rashod had an impact in many people’s lives. Family was important to him.On Sunday, July 30, 2017; Rodriquez Rashod McGee departed this life. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jesse J. McGee; and uncle, Dwayne Dodson.Those left to cherish his memories are his parents, Dionne McGee McCord and wayne Dodson; one sister, Ja’Nae McGee; two grandmothers, Annie L. Simpson Pattillo, LaGrange, GA; and Ruth Puckett, Atlanta, GA; two aunts, Remella White Cain and Renita White; four uncles, Pete White, Andre Dodson, Derek Dodson, and Rev. Felix F. McGee; and a host of great aunts, great uncles, other relatives, and friends.

Mrs. Bobbie Jean Bradley

Mrs. Bobbie Jean Bradley of Valley, AL, 82, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Arbor Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center in Opelika, AL.  She was born on June 15, 1935 in Chilton County, AL to the late Rev. Leonard Hand and the late Ola Pearl Deason Hand (Albea).

Bobbie married Whit Bradley, Sr. in 1965.  They were happily married for 52 years.  Bobbie was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Valley for 52 years.  She was a homemaker and church secretary before retiring.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her brother, Rev. Dr. Benny C. Hand, Sr.

Bobbie is survived by her husband, Whit Bradley, Sr. of Opelika, AL, and their four children, Shelia  Woodall (Eric) of Notasulga, AL;  Whit Bradley, Jr. (Robin) of Valley, AL; Sharon Ezell (Mike) of Beulah, AL; Cherie Cline (Jerry) of Cherryville, NC; seven grandchildren, Steve Sanders, Whitney & Blake Bradley, B. J. Wallace, Jared, Kaci, & Adam Cline, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 2:00 PM EST from Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Grantham & Rev. Tim Bass officiating.  Visitation was on Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM EST at the funeral home.
