David Alan Fowler

David A. Fowler, 55, of LaGrange, died on Wednesday, the 1st of August 2018. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betsy” Strickland Fowler whom he married on the 13th of July 1985; his daughters, Lauren Fowler Mosley (Paul), and Dorothy Fowler; grandsons, Thomas and Henry; mother, Ann C. Fowler; sister, Andrea Trainer (Alan); nephew, Thomas Trainer; niece, Ann Trainer; and brother-in-law, William “Bill” E. Strickland III. He is preceded in death by father, B. Delma Fowler. David graduated from LaGrange High School in 1981, LaGrange College in 1985, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity, and Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in 1988. He was immediate past president of the Rotary Club of LaGrange, where he was a multi Paul Harris Fellow, Will Watt Fellow, and Walter Y. Murphy Fellow. He was also a member of the LaGrange Gridiron Club, and helped form the LC Panther Club. He was an adjunct professor at LaGrange College, named to the LC Wall of Outstanding Alumni in 2010, and a Lay Eucharistic Minister at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. A member of the Troup County Bar Association, David was an attorney for 30 years and recently served as a municipal court judge for the city of LaGrange. David will be fondly remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was an avid fan of the Auburn Tigers and LaGrange College Panthers. The gathering of family and friends was held on Friday, August 3, 2018 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at the funeral home. The memorial service was on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11:30am in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LaGrange College in memory of David A. Fowler.  Kenneth Steven Ray

Kenneth Steven Ray, age 68, of LaGrange passed away of August 2, 2018.  He was born in LaGrange, GA on January 26, 1950 to the late Will Hugh Ray and Marjorie Carolyn Rivers Ray.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Thomas Ray. Mr. Ray was the owner and sole operator of Ray Construction. Survivors include his wife Jane Smith Ray; son, Brian Ray (Shree); daughter Brandie Ray; brother, Ronald Ray (Reba). Grandchildren, Emily Ray, Hanna Ray, Aubree Winfree, Ella Winfree, Michael Gordon, Whitley Adams, sister in laws, Rebecca Lipham, Ruthie Mae Heathcox, Brenda Ray; several nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Family had visitation on Saturday, August 04, 2018 from 12:00-2:00 PM at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel. Funeral services began at 2:00 PM with Mike Duncan officiating. Interment followed at Thompson Family Cemetery.



 Lois Thompson Hodge

Mrs. Lois Thompson Hodge was born July 29, 1927 and peacefully entered her Heavenly Home on Monday morning, July 30, 2018 at WellStar West Georgia Hospice. She was the eldest child born to the union of the late Lucious Thompson, Sr. and Carrie Lou Simpson Thompson.

Mother Lois loved to Praise the Lord and gave God the Honor, the Praise, and the Glory wherever she went. She attended public school in LaGrange and was employed as a Domestic Worker for several families in the area. Lois was married to the late John L. Hodge and to this union two sons were born:  Johnny Lee Hodge of LaGrange and the late David Hodge. Lois Thompson Hodge will forever be remembered as a woman who loved the lord. His praises were continually in her mouth. Just hours after celebrating her ninety-first birthday with loved ones all around, Lois Thompson Hodge sang, “Swing Low Sweet Chariot” and said, “Yes Lord, I will do what You say.” With a song in her heart and praise on her lips, she entered Eternal Rest. Lois got her robe and joined God’s Heavenly Choir. With the rattle of her tambourine, the pat of her foot, the clapping of her hands, and the swaying of her head, Lois Thompson Hodge praised her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a True Believer until the very end. In addition to her parents, husband, and youngest son; Lois was preceded in death by her brothers, Lucios Thomson, Jr., Joel Thompson, Sr., Rayfus Thompson, and Linnis Thompson, Sr. She leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Johnny Lee Hodge; her sisters and caregivers:  Joyce Thompson Tucker and Carrie Thompson (Jesse) Hightower; her brother, Willie Henry Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends; her families at True Holiness Church of LaGrange and St. James Holiness Church of Dadeville, Alabama. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, August 04, 2018, 3:00 PM, Valley Grove Baptist Church, 126 Grady Street, LaGrange, GA 30240.
