Opal Wylene Erquitt Smith
Mrs. Opal Wylene Erquitt Smith, age 82, of LaGrange passed away on October 23, 2018 at the WellStar West Georgia Hospice. Mrs. Smith was born in LaGrange, Georgia to the late Mr. Arlice David (A.D.) Erquitt and Mrs. Essie Mae Cantrell Erquitt. She worked for 27 years at Playtex and another 17 years at the Clark Holder Clinic before retirement. She was a long-time member of the East Vernon Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Smith, brother, Darzell Erquitt, and sisters, Cornelia Daniel and LaUna Townsend. Survivors include son, Terry J. Smith (Sandra); daughter, Shirlynn Skipper (“Skip” Ken); grandchildren, Brant Skipper (Shannon), Angie Zerkle (Brent), Kristie Smith, Sherrie Rudolphi (Todd), Fallon Wells (Jeremy); great-grandchildren, Katlynn, Cidney, Carson, Garrett, Jackson, Josie-Rose; one great-great grandchild on the way. Funeral services were held at 1:00 on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at East Vernon Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith lay in state at the church from 12:00 pm until service hour. Family received friends on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel from 6:00-8:00 pm.

Joan Green, 42, of Hogansville passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018 in Newnan Georgia. Joan was born Cheryl Joan Hudson, December 16, 1975 in LaGrange the daughter of the late Crawford and Erin Caswell Hudson. She was a 1993 graduate of Troup High School and a member of Faith Baptist Church. Joan was an employee of Hyundai Glovis. Mr. Gary William Vowell, 63, of LaGrange passed away Wednesday at Wellstar West Georgia Hospice. Mr. Vowell was born July 30, 1955 the son of the late Grady and Mildred Eastridge Vowell. Gary was a craftsman by trade and was a former employee of Bailey Septic Tank Service. There will not be any formal services or visitation held.

Gene Autry Edmondson
Mr. Gene Autry Edmondson was born December 18, 1949 in Heard County, Georgia to the parentage of the late, Calvin Boykin and Lucille Strickland. He was reared by the late, Jim and Hassie Edmondson. He was a 1968 graduate of Ethel W. Kight High School. Gene was employed with Ford Motor Company of Detroit, Michigan for many years until his retirement. On Tuesday, October 23, 2018, Gene departed this life at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Georgia and entered into Eternal Rest. He was preceded in death by four brothers: William Strickland, Robert Strickland, Richard Strickland, and John Strickland.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Teri Clark Edmondson; one daughter, Tamika Truitt, Wayne, MI; two sons: Mitchell Williams, OH and Sergio Edmondson, Westland, MI; two grandsons: Jermar and Najee; one great granddaughter, Ry’leigh, all of Wayne, MI; four sisters: Elizabeth Ridgeway, LaGrange, GA; Leva (Johnnie) Thornton, Franklin, GA; Janice Cammon, Knoxville, TN; and Victoria Gardin, Detroit, MI; three brothers: Sam Cameron and Alfred Boykin, LaGrange, GA; and Jessie (Matilda) Strickland, Carrolton, GA; three aunts: Eula Darden, LaGrange, GA; Grace Allen, Inkster, MI and Rosa Austin, Atlanta, GA; one cousin, Henry Boykin, LaGrange, GA; a very special cousin and caregiver, Priscilla Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church. Pastor Tommie Gilbert and Dr. W. T. Edmondson officiated.

Temy Robert Beal, age 60 of LaGrange, Ga., passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Beal was born March 23, 1958 in Cedartown, Ga., the son of Robert and Bessie Mae Beal. He was retired as a truck driver and enjoyed reading and spending time browsing the internet on his computer. He was also the former owner and publisher of a newspaper in Dothan, Alabama. In addition to his parents, Mr. Beal was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Barbara Bartlett and John Bartlett, Sr. Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Melinda S. Beal of LaGrange; sisters-in-law, Allisen Yarbrough (Ray) of Hamilton, Ga., and Anna Smith (Derick) of Waverly Hall, Ga.; a brother-in-law John Bartlett, Jr. (Debbie) of Shiloh, Ga.; his faithful canine companion of 13 years, Tucker; also several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
