Rev. Willow Heim
Willadene (Willow) Heim, of Cartersville and formerly of Hogansville,passed away March 22, 2020, at Cartersville Medical Center. She was 90 years old. Mrs. Heim was preceded in death by her husband, John and her sister, Erma Fry. Survivors include her daughter and son-in- law, Peggy and Kevin Lobello of Cartersville; son and daughter-in-law, Mick and Beth Heim of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Adam Edwards, John Lobello, Sarah and Tyler Pearson, Stephen and Christine Heim, and Kelley and Chris Heim- Maier; and two great-grandchildren, Kevin Lobello and Willow Grace Edwards, whom she adored. Mrs. Heim was a certified respiratory therapist, her last position being with the American Lung Association. She loved her family, loved the United Methodist Church, and was a member of Sam Jones United Methodist in Cartersville. She was the former Lay Leader of the LaGrange District and had served as pastor of Salem, St. James, and Corinth United Methodist Churches. She was the founder of God’s Bread Basket Food Pantry in Hogansville, and was a gifted and accomplished quilter. A service celebrating the life of Willow Heim will be held at a later date when the current health crisis is over. Memorial gifts can be made to God’s Bread Basket, P.O. Brian A. Duffey, 51, of Morganton and formerly of LaGrange, passed away Friday, March 20, 2020, at his home. Mr. Duffey was born April 12, 1968, in Albany, and lived in Troup County the greater part of his life. He was a 1987 graduate of Hogansville High School and had employed as a driver for United Parcel Service. Brian enjoyed camping and jet-skiing, and also loved to garden and landscape. Survivors include his daughter, Megan Duffey of Milledgeville; son, Everett Duffey of LaGrange; his parents, Myra and Claude Duffey of Blairsville; brothers, Joey Duffey and Paul Duffey, also of Blairsville; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be planned when the current health crisis subsides.
Mrs. Elsie Ledford Pike
Mrs. Elsie Ruth Ledford Pike, 89, of LaGrange, passed away Friday, March 20, 2020 at her home after a short illness. Born February 3, 1931 in Meriwether County, Elsie was the daughter of the late Benjamin Jacob and Fannie Mae Heard Ledford. She retired from the Unity Mill of Milliken and Company and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in LaGrange. Elsie loved her Church and most especially the annual Easter Play. She took great pride in keeping her home and yard immaculate and had a great love for Elvis Presley. All her family will greatly miss her and the annual Easter picnic she hosted at her home every year. Survivors include her step-daughter and constant companion, Donna Pike; nieces and nephews, Barbara A. Norred, Linda D. Stribling, LaVaughn Thompson, Phillip E. Stribling, and Ty Stribling; great-nieces and nephews, Lorrie Hester, Paige Thompson Clifton, Brook Dupree King, PJ Stribling, Clay Stribling, Beau Stribling, and Alysse Stribling; great-great-nieces and nephews, Brian Hester, Brent Hester, Hannah Clifton, Katie Dupree, Payton Dupree, Gabby Stribling, Grant Stribling, Rhett Stribling, Reid Stribling, and Rori Stribling; great-great-great nieces and nephews, Trent Hester, Tanner Hester, Lowen Hester, Barrett Hester, Lennox Hester, McKinley Hester, and Mason Hester; step-daughters, Pat Pressley, and Susan Holland; and step-sons, Terry Pike, and Danny Butler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Toby R. Pike; her brothers and sisters, Skeet Ledford, Jamie Ledford, Louise Thompson, and Grace Stribling; niece, Carol J. Thompson; and brothers in-law, Fred Thompson and Otis Earl Stribling. Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 21, at the graveside in Shadowlawn Cemetery with the Reverend Brandon Brooks officiating.
Mr. Ronald C. Wilson
Mr. Ronald C. Wilson, 51, of Grantville, passed away Friday, at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. Mr. Wilson was born December 12, 1968, in Coweta County, son of the late Charles Ronald Wilson and Rebecca Boswell Wilson. A resident of Coweta County most of his life, he owned and operated a lawn care service and enjoyed scratch-off lottery tickets and being with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Regina Jackson of Grantville; son, Patrick Wilson of Florida; daughter, Jana Cash of Grantville; four grandchildren, including Tanner Cash; sisters and brothers, Sarah Duran of Hogansville, Christopher Wilson of Macon, Thomas Wilson of Buchanan, Tracy Rowe of LaGrange, Michael Wilson of Greenville, TN; and a number of nieces and nephews. Viewing for family and friends was held Sunday, March 22, at the funeral home.
Johnny Devoe Latzak, Sr
Johnny Devoe Latzak, Sr., 84, died Thursday, March 19, 2020 in LaGrange, Georgia. He leaves his wife of 62 years, Linda Williams Latzak; his daughter, Dr. Laura Latzak Keith and her husband, Dr. Jim Keith of Moultrie, Georgia; his daughter, Leah Latzak Beckom and her husband, Lamar Beckom, of LaGrange, Georgia; his son, Johnny Devoe Latzak, Jr. and his wife, Kristi Latzak, of Marietta, Georgia; 10 grandchildren: Kimberly Estes Kelly, Kyle Estes, Linda Keith Dunnavant, James Keith, Anna Leigh Keith, John Keith, Nicholas Beckom, Luke Latzak, Charles Latzak and Jacob Latzak; and 3 great grandchildren, Keith Dunnavant, Lucas Dunnavant and Wyatt Estes. Born in Bulloch County, Georgia to John Sobieski Latzak and Sarah Elizabeth Snipes, and raised in Bulloch County and Savannah, Georgia, he lived the majority of his life in Greenville, Georgia. In his early years, Mr. Latzak would work on the family farm growing tobacco. He was an Eagle Scout and semi-pro baseball player and, after graduating from Commercial High School (ROTC) in 1953, he joined the Air Force, serving his Country for four years active duty and four years in reserve. He then attended Armstrong College. He met his wife, Linda Williams, when she moved in next door to him in Savannah. They married on December 14, 1957. After serving with the Air Force, Mr. Latzak started his business career. He didn’t spend much time working for others. Always entrepreneurial. Always thinking about different paths to success. He had several businesses across many platforms including a high-end retail furniture store, insurance agency, mortgage lending and property management. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to the Greenville Baptist Church, West Georgia Hospice Charitable Fund or donating a Dr. Suess book to any library or child. A graveside service was held at 3:00 PM on March 21, 2020 at the Greenville City Cemetery in Greenville, Georgia. Due to public heath concerns, a memorial service may be held at a later date.

Jack A Perri Jr, Born January 27 1946 in Coraopolis PA. Passed away at his home after a brief illness. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Elfrieda Perri, and brother (Richard). He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol Perri of Lagrange GA; his three children, Denise Clark (Brad) of South Bend Indiana, Tamara Sergio (Joseph) of Scottsdale AZ, and Jack A Perri III (Jammie) of Moreland GA; his brother, Timothy J Perri (Debra) of Boone NC; four grandchildren, Abby Goodwin, Nicolas Perri, Jordan Hix, and Cole Perri; and two great grandchildren, Scarlette Goodwin and Ellie Humphrey Jack proudly served in the United States Air Force He had a passion for college football, motorsports, and classic cars, and loved to work on cars over the years. He loved to make people laugh, and his quick wit was unmatched. He was always fun to be around. Jack loved his family, and would help anyone he could. He will be greatly missed. Mr. Stephen “Steve” David Huey, of West Point, passed away on March 20, 2020. He was born in Obion, Tennessee on December 20, 1953. Mr. Huey is survived by his wife, Patricia Viar Shramm; his sons, Daniel Schramm and David Schramm; his friend Tommy King. Mr. Frank Hugh Pearce
Mr. Frank Hugh Pearce, of LaGrange, passed away on March 20, 2020. He was born in West Point, Georgia on May 19, 1946 to the late Francis Hubert Pearce and Velma Dorothy Lashley Pearce. Mr. Pearce was ordained into ministry in 2005. At that time he started a nursing home ministry. Using this ministry, he visited local nursing homes where he would minister, provide devotionals and give reminiscing items. The time he spent in this ministry was enjoyed by himself and the residents alike. Mr. Pearce was a Boy Scout Troup leader in Fredonia, Alabama. He also had a career working with Emerson Power where he worked as a machine operator. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pearce is preceded in death by his brother, John Will Pearce and his sister in law, Sandra Pearce. He is survived by his wife, Fay Love Pearce; his children, Frank Hugh Pearce Jr. (Leigh Anna), Thomas Pearce, Yolanda Pearce-Trinidad (Roberto); his step-sons, Joe Curtis and Kenneth Curtis (Tracey); his sister, Mary Prue (Jack). A graveside funeral service will be held at Fredonia Methodist Church Cemetery on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at 2 p.m.. Due to public health concerns, a visitation with the family and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Mr. Alvin David Brooks was born March 3, 1941 to the late, Harvey and Carrie Brooks in Troup County, Georgia. He retired from Troup County Courthouse after many years of service. “A.D.”, as he was known by family and friends was united in Holy Matrimony to Laverne Adkin Brooks. On Wednesday, March 18, 2020; Alvin passed away at WellStar West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange, Georgia. In addition to his parents, and his wife, Laverne; he was preceded in death by one sister, Mae Willie Brooks; one brother, Samuel Brooks; and aunt, Fannie Slaughter. He leaves to cherish his memories, his children, Maxine Brooks (Kerry) Stanley, Alan Brooks, Robert Brooks, Christopher Brooks, Alvin Brooks, Jr., Melva Brown, Michael Minor, Stacye Scott, Felicia Harden, Irvin Ridgeway, Mario Ridgeway; a grandson here reared as a son, Malachi Tucker; thirty grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; siblings: Elige Brooks, Jewell Brooks, Harvey (Beverly) Brooks, Alranso (Carla) Brooks, Eva Brooks, Patricia Anderson, Betty Goodman, Dorothy (Larry) Ferrell; aunts: Bertha Brewer, JoAnn Hurston, and Mary Hall; special nephews, Willie Brooks, godson, Brandon Yarbrough; special friends, Bobby (Linda) Yarbrough, Mike Dobbs, Dorothy Ridgeway, Melvin Douner, Marion Randall, Rebecca Williams, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Mrs. Frances Copeland Brooks was born October 15, 1948 to the late, Ples and Ruby Copeland. Frances was an Entrepreneur and owner of the famous, ‘Café’ La Taste’ in LaGrange, Georgia. She is survived by her husband, Lonnie Brooks. She leaves to cherish her memoires, a loving and devoted daughter, Matina Brooks Dargan; son, Anthony B. Brooks; six grandchildren: Kenneth (Brooks) Shaw, Latisha Brooks, Omarion Brooks, Shantell Brooks, Alonzo (Brianna) Dargan Jr. , Davion Dargan and two great grandchildren: Carter and Noah; seven siblings: Joann Parham, Columbus, GA; Carrie (Arthur) Clark, Pine Mountain, GA; Carolyn Woods, Hamilton, GA; Randy (Janice) Copeland, Lagrange, GA; Ples (Carolyn) Copeland, Hamilton, GA; Kathleen (Greg) Hightower, Hamilton, GA; Douglas Copeland, Hamilton, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Lynda Cherry Ivey
Lynda Cherry Ivey, age 73, of Pine Mountain, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, in Panama City, Florida. Lynda was born on March 17, 1947 to the late John Earl Cherry and the late Ellie B. Thomas in Blakely, Georgia. She is also preceded in death by her husband William James (Jim) Ivey, Jr. Lynda worked for a number of years at the Early County Nursing Home in Blakely, GA and retired from Emory Healthcare of LaGrange where she worked as an LPN. She was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church. She loved the beach and adored her grandchildren. Lynda is survived by her daughters, Sandra Ivey Morman and Charles Hancock, Patricia and Todd Browers; son, James “Jimbo” Ivey; granddaughters, Molly Morman, Victoria Browers, LeAndra Browers and Ivey Browers Mclendon (Michael); great-grandchildren, Caylee, Gunner, and Maggie; grandson, Rus Morman; sisters, Evelyn Simpson (Ronnie), Gloria Love, Liz Ezell; brother, Johnny Mac (Merle) Cherry; a number of other relatives also survive.
