The individuals listed have been cited/arrested/charged in Troup County. However, this is not an admission of guilt. All parties are considered innocent until proved guilty.
• Wednesday afternoon about 12:30 p.m., La-Grange Police responded the Walmart on New Franklin Road in reference to Shoplifting.
Officers arrived and spoke with the store’s loss prevention officer, who stated they observed male, later identified as Justin Hendrix, conceal a silver necklace, valued at $4.99, and a box of iFitness wristbands, valued at $33.76, in his pockets.
Walmart employees stopped Hendrix and recovered the necklace out of his pockets, but could not locate the wrist bands.
Police then spoke with Hendrix, who admitted to taking the items and concealing them in his pocket. Hendrix stated that he did not know what happened to the wristbands and stated that he must have lost them while inside of the store.
Hendrix stated that he had the wrist bands in the pocket with his phone and when he went to take his phone out of his pocket, he realized that the bands were no longer inside the pocket.
Hendrix was then taken into custody for Shoplifting and searched to arrest.
While searching Hendrix officers located the instructions for the iFitness bands inside the left sleeve of his jacket.
As a result, Hendrix, age 17, was arrested and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office where he was booked into the jail charged with Theft by Shoplifting – Less than $500 and issued a Criminal Trespass Warning banning him from Walmart at the store’s request.
• Early Thursday morning about 1:23 a.m., La-Grange Police initiated a traffic stop on a Jeep Grand Cherokee near the intersection of Commerce Avenue and New Franklin Road for a taillight violation.
The vehicle then proceeded to turn onto New Franklin Road under a red light, even though there is a sign near the traffic signal saying no right turn on red.
The vehicle eventually stopped near the Aldi grocery store on New Franklin Road and officers made contact with the driver, Tacorey Brooks.
Upon making contact with Brooks, officers observed numerous clusters of suspected green marijuana on his lap. Police then asked Brooks if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and he stated just the “shake” on his lap.
Officers asked Brooks for consent to search the vehicle and he agreed to the search. Before doing so, officers asked him again if there was anything illegal in his vehicle and he lowered his head and stated he had more marijuana in the center console.
Brooks was then taken into custody and the vehicle was searched. During the search, officers found numerous loose clusters of suspected marijuana where Brooks had been seated. Police also located a glass Mason jar in the center console containing two clear plastic baggies containing suspected marijuana.
As a result, Brooks, age 27, was arrested and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office where he was booked into the jail charged with Possession of Marijuana – Less than an Ounce and Violation of a Traffic Control Device.
• Tiffany Patterson arrested was arrested by West Point Police for Driving without a License on Avenue B.
