Officer arrived and spoke to paramedics, who advised they transported Shaundrell Bryant from Reeves Street to the emergency room due to her complaining about being sick. When they arrived at the emergency room, Bryant refused to exit the ambulance and stated that she wanted to go to Grady.
Officers then spoke to Bryant and asked her what was going on and she just stared at them. Bryant’s mother was on scene and told police that that her daughter was not on any medication and she is just going through a relationship issue.
Police asked Bryant’s mother to speak with her to get her to cooperate, but she still refused to get out of the ambulance. Officers then asked Bryant if she wanted to go with her mother and she stated “that’s not her.” Her mother then told her that she would take her to Grady, but she still refused to exit the ambulance.
After numerous attempts at getting her to willingly exit the ambulance, officers began rolling the stretcher out of the ambulance and Bryant put her right foot on the side of the ambulance preventing officers from rolling the stretcher out.
Additional officers then grabbed hold of Bryant’s right foot, but she snatched it out of his hand and started kicking both feet in the air. Bryant was then forcibly restrained while a nurse removed an I.V. from her arm.
Once the needle was removed, Bryant agreed to would walk to the patrol car, but she refused to do so after her leg restraints were removed. Bryant then placed her foot under the bumper of the ambulance, refusing to move it.
Officers then picked up Bryant and physically carried her to a patrol car. Bryant was then searched to arrest, but she continued to resist and had to be physically forced into the patrol vehicle.
Bryant was then transported her to Troup County Sheriff’s Office where she was booked into the jail without further incident.
