Decatur Man Robbed while Selling Gun in LaGrange

LaGrange Police are investigating an incident where a Decatur man was robbed in town while trying to sell a gun to a man he met online.

Sunday afternoon, about 12:45 p.m., officers with the LaGrange Police Department were called to the area of Callaway Stadium on Forrest Avenue in reference to reports of a Robbery by Snatch.

Officers arrived and made contact with the victim, who stated that he traveled from Decatur, GA, to LaGrange to meet with a subject whom he met via an “Arms List” website.

The victim stated the unknown subject wanted to purchase a firearm from him, so they made arrangements to meet around 12:20 p.m. to sell the gun.

According to the victim, when the subject arrived he was accompanied by two other subjects. During the subsequent conversation about the gun, one of the subjects struck him to the face with his fist knocking him down.

The victim stated that when he fell, the other two subjects took two pistols from his possession and all three suspects fled from the location on foot.

The victim described the suspects as black males, between the ages of 15 to 19 years of age, standing about 5 foot 8 inches tall.

The victim stated that one of the subjects had a slender build and a red bag. The second subject was described as having a medium build, and wearing a grey t-shirt and black shorts. The third subject reportedly wore a black hooded sweatshirt and long pants.

The LaGrange Police Department is asking that everyone conduct transactions of this type at the police department for your own safety. If anyone has any questions or concerns about selling or buying items like this, please contact police.

This incident is still under investigation by the LaGrange Police Department Criminal Investigation Section.
