Luther Smith

Luther “Seborn” Jackson Smith, 91, of LaGrange, GA was received in the arms of Jesus on Friday, May 26, 2017.

Mr. Smith was born April 16, 1926 in Randolph County, AL to the late Josh Smith and Minnie Mae Smith. He retired from Milliken Live Oak after 52 years of faithful service. Mr. Smith was a charter member of Independent Church of Worship and attended faithfully until his health declined. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Dewayne Lynch; son-in-law, Bobby Moore; four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Bartha J. Smith; daughter, Laura Naomi Moore; grandsons, Jimmy Lee (Tammy) Lynch, Christopher Jackson Terry, and Wayne Clyde Terry; eight great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

The Gathering of Family and Friends will be Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home. The Funeral Service will be 3:00pm Sunday, May 28, 2017 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Pastor Jerry Scarborough officiating. A Private Burial will be held in Restlawn Memory Cemetery.

Grace Noles

Mrs. Grace Noles, 85, of LaGrange, GA passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 at Hospice LaGrange.

Mrs. Noles was born November 21, 1931 in LaGrange, GA, daughter of the late Ernest and Annie Drinkard.  She was a member of South Highland Presbyterian Church and was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse with City-County Hospital (West Georgia Medical Center) before retiring.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, A. Wayne Noles.

Survivors include her son, David W. Noles (Suzy); daughter, Wanda Hammond (Sammy), grandchildren, Linda Holloway, Chad Noles, and Ginger Moat; and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 29, 2017 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Reverend Brandon Brooks officiating.  Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Garden.  The gathering of family and friends will be on Monday from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

David Loftin

Mr. David Ray Loftin, age 67, of LaGrange, passed away on May 26, 2017 at his residence.  Mr. Loftin was born on February 9, 1950 in LaGrange to the late Truman Loftin and Nina Ware Loftin.  He attended Baptist Tabernacle and was involved in the family business, Loftin Fire and Safety Inc. in LaGrange.

​Survivors include his sons, Danial Arthur Blanton and his wife Heater and Jeremy Ray Loftin and his wife Rachel; daughter, April Sori and her husband Sam; brother, Lamar Loftin and his wife Janet; sisters, Judy Crowder and her husband David and Bernice Scott; grandchildren, Ema Sori, Madison Sori, Damian Blanton, Makayla Passett, Austin Cardwell and Jake Cardwell; great grandchild, Buckley Blanton; extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the Baptist Tabernacle with Rev. Frances Vinelle Self Croft Robertson

Mrs. Frances Vinelle Self Croft Robertson, age 97, of Lanett, Alabama passed away on Sunday, May 28th, 2017 at the EAMC Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.

Mrs. Robertson was born in Lanett, Alabama on November 10, 1919 to the late William Jefferson Self and Annie Lee Williams Self.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Croft; her last husband, Eugene Robertson, Jr; daughter, Faye Croft; stepson, Henry Robertson; sisters, Mary Davis, Helen Dunn, Margaret Aaron; brothers, Bill Self, Tilman Self, Jesse Self.

Mrs. Robertson was born and raised in Lanett, Alabama.   At a young age, she sacrificed for her family to go to work in the Lanett Mill.  She later returned to school and graduated from Lanett High School and went on to graduate from the Perry School of Business.  She was a faithful member of the Lanett First Baptist Church, where she served in many different capacities over the years.  She married Eugene Robertson, Jr., later in life, and together they owned and operated Valley Florist.

Her hobbies and interests included ceramics, decorating, and baking for special occasions.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 31st, 2017 at 11:00A.M. EDT at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with interment following in Oakwood Cemetery.  The Reverend Floyd Aikens and the Reverend Don Downs officiating.  The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00P.M. EDT until 8:00P.M. EDT.

Mrs. Robertson is survived by her children, Walter (Doris) Croft, Valley, Yvonne (Bill) Masten, Valley; stepson, Michael (Linda) Robertson, Russia; sister, Evelyn Cummings, Lanett; sister-in-law, Ida Bess Robertson, Lanett; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; 2 great-great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or the family suggests that memorials be made to the West End Baptist Church Building Fund.
