LaGrange Christmas Parade On Thursday

The time of year has arrived once again. Trees are going up in homes, yards are adorned with bright and colorful lights, and the eggnog is being passed around the entire house. Along with the holidays comes LaGrange’s traditional holiday event, the Christmas Parade.

The Christmas Parade in LaGrange has been a staple of the community for many years now and as the years have gone by, the number of floats and onlookers has grown exponentially.

This year’s theme of a Star Spangled Christmas will see 100 floats, all sponsored by various local businesses, civic clubs, organizations, and many, many others. This LaGrange Christmas Parade On Thursday

year’s Grand Marshall will be L. Bernard Bledsoe, the Troup County Chapter Leader of Toys for Tots.

Christmas or Santa Claus parades are a tradition dating back to Roman times, where chariots would be filled to the brim with gold and spoils of war. Many American cities partake in Christmas parades each and every year.

Peoria, Illinois has the longest running American parade, dating back some 125 plus years and of course, the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade has been a holiday staple since 1924. From the hot and sun soaked shores of Hollywood to the cold and boisterous east coast of New York City, parades at the holidays occur all over the country and you will find no better home grown parade than right here in LaGrange Georgia.
