William Griggs Recreation Center Basketball Shoot Out Enters The Midpoint Of The Summer

The numbers remain consistent with 40 participants in attendance at William Griggs Gym. Each week new participants continue to come eager to learn and compete. There’s a lot of positive feedback from the parents and crowd reviewing how the shoot out is structured. Coach Cotton welcomes any parents, fans or spectators to the gym anytime to watch the staff and the participants work hard and more importantly have fun.

In “team 21” play, #1 Callaway defeated #2 Troup 22-15 to win the championship belts. #2 Callaway also made it to the finals of round robin’s tournament but end up losing to #1 LaGrange 17-12. The final results of the evening were #1 La-Grange 11-3, #2 Callaway 10-4, #3 Veterans 3-10, and #4 Troup 1-12.

Don’t forget, there will be no Basketball Shootout this weekend and it will resume on Saturday, July 9th. There will be warm ups and drills from 9 am – 10 am. Round robins league and tournament play. Girls and Boys, 6th grade and up, are welcome. Must do drills and sign waiver before participating in this event.
