Woman Attacked by Knife Wielding Prowler

LaGrange Police are investigating an incident where a local woman was attacked while investigating a prowler outside her home.

Sunday night about 11:34 p.m., officers with the La-Grange Police responded to the 200 block of Ashton Circle in reference to a prowler who had attacked a female with a knife.

Police arrived and spoke to the 23-year-old victim, who advised the incident occurred at her home on Park Avenue and she fled to Ashton Street seeking help. The victim advised she had been cut by an unknown prowler armed with a knife.

Police say the female victim was visibly shaken and had multiple minor lacerations on her left arm, which she believed came from the knife.

The victim stated she went outside to confront the unknown suspect, who was seen standing inside her fenced in backyard. She stated she approached the male and asked him what he was doing, at which point he brandished a pocket knife. He then grabbed her without saying anything and cut her.

She stated she managed to pull away and ran back through her residence to a neighbor’s house where she called 911.

The victim described the unknown prowler as a black male standing 5 foot 7 to 5 foot 9 inches tall with a slim build. The suspect had short “corn roll” style hair and was last seen wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans. The victim estimated the male was possibly 16 to 23.

Police attempted to track the suspect using K-9 assistance, but were ultimately unable to locate the suspect.

This incident is still under investigation by the LaGrange Police Department Criminal Investigations Section.
