Gunshot Fired In Domestic Incident

Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a local man on domestic violence charges after he allegedly attacked and assaulted a female family member with a gun.

Deputies were called to the domestic disturbance early Tuesday morning and determined that Charles Combs, of LaGrange, had apparently fired a handgun during a domestic confrontation with a female relative.

Investigators say that Combs had become so upset with the female that he injured her by kicking an interior door within his residence. The female was reportedly behind the door when Combs kicked it, which caused the door to swing and strike the victim.

The victim was not struck by any of the gunfire and only sustained minor injuries during the incident.

Investigators did not disclose the cause of the dispute between Combs and the victim.

As a result of the incident, Combs, age 41, was arrested and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office where he was booked into the jail and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon – Family Violence Act and Battery – Family Violence Act.

The female victim was taken to receive treatment for minor injuries at a local hospital and was later released.

This incident is still under investigation by the Troup County Sheriff’s Office.
