Man Arrested For Domestic Violence Incident
LaGrange Police have arrested a local man as a result of a violent domestic incident involving an allegedly stolen vehicle.
Early Thursday morning about 1:05 a.m., officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to the 400 block of Brown Street in reference to a domestic disturbance.
Police arrived and spoke to the victim, who advised that she and her boyfriend, Andrew Lee Strozier, have been living together for about two years on Niles Street. She stated she recently kicked Strozier out of her home for personal reasons.
The female advised that the incident occurred earlier in the night when she had tried to speak with him he had grabbed her by the neck, leaving a visible laceration on the side of her neck. Strozier then fled the location on foot.
The victim advised that Strozier had also taken her house key and took her vehicle and hid it in an unknown location.
Police observed the victim’s neck and documented what appeared to be a recent injury with wet blood running down the side of her neck.
By the time officers arrived, Strozier had returned and he waited by at his mother’s residence on Brown Street.
Strozier later admitted he had taken the vehicle, but he claimed to not know where it was currently located. A subsequent search of his person revealed a single house key that the victim stated belonged to her home.
Strozier initially told police that he never put hands on the victim and did not know how she had been injured with and had what appeared to be wet blood on the side of her neck.
Police noted that Strozier also appeared to be intoxicated and had an odor some type of alcoholic beverage coming from his person.
The victim later further explained the incident say in she had walked up to Strozier’s mother’s house to reconcile thin between the two. She stated that while speaking to Strozier, she asked him for her car key, at which point he became irritated and demanded that she leave. She stated Strozier then began to walk back down Brown Street, but turned around and grabbed her neck causing the injury.
As a result of the investigation, police arrested Strozier and took him into custody for the incident.
Strozier, age 31, was arrested and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office where he was booked into the jail and charged with Battery – Family Violence Act.
Strozier is currently being held at the Troup County Jail where he was denied bond.
Troup County Sheriff’s Deputies later located the victim’s vehicle hidden behind a residence on Smoot Street, but the keys were not located.
This incident is still under investigation.
