Sheriff’s Office Investigating Interstate Shooting

Troup County Sheriff’s Investigators are looking to identify suspect(s) who appeared to have shot a young man from another vehicle while he was riding along the interstate.

Early Thursday morning, Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office were called to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center Emergency Room in reference to a male subject who arrived with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

Investigators made contact with the 21-year-old victim, who stated he had been riding as a passenger on Interstate 85 when he was shot through the car window.

The victim explained that he was traveling southbound near the 7 or 8 mile marker, when the passenger side window shattered and there were immediate injuries to his left and right hands.

A small bullet fragment was later recovered from the car and taken into evidence.

The victim stated the only vehicle the gunshot could have come from was an unknown silver car. The victim was unable to provide any further description of neither the car, nor the shooter or driver.

This incident is still under investigation by the Troup County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.
