Teens Charged with Armed Robbery
Troup County Sheriff’s Investigators have arrested two 17-year-old males for allegedly robbing a juvenile at gunpoint.
On May 25, deputies with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 900 block of Mooty Bridge Road in reference to reports of an Armed Robbery of a juvenile.
The incident was reported in the City of La-Grange, but deputies arrived and confirmed the alleged crime had occurred in rural Troup County.
Deputies arrived and met with juvenile victim, who advised he had been robbed while at a residence on East Mount Zion Road.
The victim explained that he had been grabbed from behind by Lance Gregory Billups and they fought on the ground. According to the victim, Billups forcibly ripped a necklace and hip pack off of his person. The bag reportedly contained about $200 in cash.
The victim also advised that while he and Billups were fighting on the ground, a second suspect, Marquavios Blackmon, pulled a gun and threatened to shoot him.
Both Billups and Blackmon were later located and taken into custody for the incident.
As a result, Billups, age 17, and Blackmon, age 17, were arrested and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office where they were both booked into the jail charged with Armed Robbery with a Firearm.
Billups was additionally charged with warrants for Aggravated Assault with a Gun, two counts of Participation in Criminal Street Gang Activity, and another count of Armed Robbery from a separate incident.
Both suspects are currently being held at the Troup County Jail where they were denied bond.
