Juvenile Charged for Attacking Mother
LaGrange Police charged a 13-year-old boy after he allegedly attacked his own mother, punching her in the face.
Monday night about 8:12 p.m., officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to the 100 block of Parker Lane in reference to a domestic disturbance.
Officers arrived and met with the female victim, who stated her 13-year-old son had punched and slapped her in the face during an argument.
The mother explained that she had told the juvenile to unlock his tablet, but he refused. She stated she then reached for the phone that was underneath her son, and he became irritated because she had previously threatened to call his father over the issue.
The victim stated her son then slapped her in the face and punched her several times. She then stood up and he continued to strike her, so she began to fight back and bit him on the arm.
The mother stated she had never seen her son become this aggressive before, but she was afraid and just wanted him to stop hitting her.
Police observed a fresh visible wound to the inside of the mother’s lip near the left side.
Officers then spoke with the juvenile, who stated that he was on the couch on his tablet when his mother began to get onto him about it. He claimed she then hit him, so he defended himself. The juvenile admitted that he did lose his temper, but stated that has not happened before.
Based on the evidence, police determined the juvenile was the primary aggressor, so he was charged for the incident.
The undisclosed juvenile, age 13, was cited for Battery – Family Violence Act and turned over to his grandmother, who agreed to temporarily take the child.
