Christmas Tree Recycling in LaGrange

Christmas Tree Recycling in LaGrange

If you are looking for a way to recycle your Christmas tree, there are two options available in LaGrange.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will accept live Christmas trees for recycling from December 26th through January 12th. The trees will be used to create brush piles in the lake to improve fish habitat. Make sure the live trees have no ornaments, tinsel, or lights on them.

Trees may be dropped off in the designated parking lots of Yellowjacket Boat Ramp and Sunny Point Boat Ramp in Georgia and Rocky Point Boat Ramp in Alabama.

Please avoid placing trees in boating channels or where they could become safety hazards to boaters or swimmers. A suitable anchoring system must also be used to prevent trees from floating away or moving around. A permit is not necessary to place a few Christmas trees in the lake, however anglers who wish to install large numbers of trees or other types of fish structures should contact the West Point Project Management Office at (706) 645-2937.

In Alabama, there is a tree drop off location at the Rocky Point Boat Ramp.

Keep Troup Beautiful is also holding its annual “Bring One for the Chipper” event Saturday, January 5th, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Representatives will be accepting live Christmas trees as well as tires and electronics. No televisions will be accepted.

The event will be at the Recycling Center on Davis Road under the water tower.
