A suspect in the Beeman Street shooting, where a man was shot in the back in December, was arrested after turning himself into police Thursday evening.

Eighteen-year-old Manquavious Jartarvi Jones, of LaGrange, turned himself in at the LaGrange Police Department Thursday evening after warrants were issued for his arrest for his alleged involvement in an Armed Robbery that occurred on Beeman Street in La-Grange on Saturday, December 16, 2018.

During the original incident, officers arrived to find the male victim on a neighbor’s the porch in the 100 block of Beeman Street. The victim was found semi-conscious with a single gunshot wound to his back.

Witnesses told police that the victim ran onto their porch and asked them to call police before he fell unconscious. It was later determined that the victim lives at a nearby residence and was shot inside his home during a robbery.

Witnesses told police that they saw two unknown black males running from the victim’s residence and leaving the area in a black SUV.

The victim was taken to an undisclosed medical facility for emergency treatment. Details of his condition are unavailable. Jones, age 18, was arrested and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office where he was booked into the jail charged with Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Armed Robbery, and Possession of a Firearm during a Felony.

Jones is being held at the Troup County Jail where he was denied bond.
