Update: Suspect Identified in Troup Street Shooting
LaGrange Police have identified one of the men accused of shooting another man during a home invasion robbery on Troup Street.
Police were called to the 800 block of Troup Street around 8:45 a.m. Tuesday morning in reference to shooting that occurred in front of a residence. Officers later determined that a home invasion style robbery had taken place where two men had forced their way into the home.
Two victims advised police that two initially unidentified men forcibly entered the residence, held them at gunpoint, and robbed them of an undisclosed amount of money.
Police say that one of the victims got into a confrontation with the suspects and he was shot during the confrontation. The suspects then fled from the location on foot.
The victim was later taken to the WellStar West Georgia Medical Center for treatment for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
During the course of the investigation police determined that Rakeem McCamey had allegedly participated in the incident and was subsequently taken into custody.
McCamey, age 27, was arrested and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office where he was booked into the jail charged with First Degree Home Invasion, two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Gun, two counts of Armed Robbery, and Possession of Marijuana – Less than an Ounce.
Police are still looking to identify the second suspect. This incident is still under investigation by the LaGrange Police Department Criminal Investigation Section.
