Rosa Lavelle Tollerson Morrison
Mrs. Rosa Lavelle Tollerson Morrison, age 95, of LaGrange, passed away on February 19, 2020 at the WellStar West Georgia Hospice. Mrs. Morrison was born on May 4, 1924 in Heard County, Georgia to the late Lonnie Jackson Tollerson and Ruby Mae Caswell Tollerson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ligon James Morrison; sisters, Alpha Sue St. George and Iva Hornsby; nephews, Charles Laws and Barry St. George. Survivors include her nephew, Rev. Michael Hornsby and his wife Susan; nieces, Kathy Diane Hammock and her husband Ted and Martha Pergamo and her husband John; great and great-great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Services for Mrs. Morrison were held on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 11:00 am at the New Hope Baptist Church where her nephew, Rev. Michael Hornsby officiated. Family received friends beginning at 10:00 am at the church until service hour. A private family interment was held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Florence Hand Home Trust Fund, 200 Medical Drive, LaGrange, Georgia, 30240.
Jacqulene “Jackie” Morgan Ward
Jacqulene “Jackie” Morgan Ward, age 88, of LaGrange, passed away at the WellStar West Georgia Hospice on February 19, 2020. She was born on March 24, 1931 to the late William Morgan and Anna Noles Morgan in LaGrange, GA. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Ward; siblings, Lera Dollar, Willie Morgan, Sallie Reason, Loyd Morgan, Ann Pombrio, Duck Morgan, Catherine Burgess, Lucy Lunsford, and Nell Robertson. Survivors include her son, Tracy Ward (Jodi); grandchildren, Jack Ward (Jayde Dowden), Emma Ward (Cole Freeman); many nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Graveside services were held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the Shadowlawn Mausoleum where Dr. Jap Keith officiated. Family received friends at the mausoleum following the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to WellStar West Georgia Hospice, 1510 Vernon Rd., Lagrange, GA 30241.

Brenda Faye Asberry
Ecclesiastes 3 To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven. A Time To Be Born: Brenda Faye Asberry was born May 21, 1949 in LaGrange, Georgia to the late Robert and Annie Asberry. A Time To Learn: She was educated in the LaGrange Public Schools. She completed Thomastown Elementary School and East Depot High School as an Honor Student. She attended Bolton Business School in Atlanta, Georgia. She was employed by the Grady Downtown Learning Center, where she helped students earn their GEDs. A Time To Plant: Brenda united with the Zion Hill Baptist Church at an early age. She was an active participant in the Youth activities of the church, including Sunday School, Youth choir, BYPU, and Vacation Bible School. A Time To Laugh: She enjoyed life and doing simple things. Brenda was quiet, calm, and sweet. She enjoyed traveling, watching television, shopping, attending Gospel concerts, and listening to Gospel music on the radio. A Time To Love: Brenda was the mother of a precious daughter whom she adored. She was a loving sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and a dedicated friend. A Time To Die: On Friday, February 14, 2020, Brenda made her transition. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Stacey Nicole Asberry; sister, Barbara Asberry Saxton; and nephew, Gregory Smith. She leaves to cherish her memories, her sisters: Lelia Asberry Smith, Atlanta, GA; and Ann Poythress, LaGrange, GA; brothers: Robert Asberry and Larry Asberry, both of LaGrange, GA; nephews: Erik Asberry, Magnolia, AK; Aaron (Mandy) Asberry and Judd Asberry, Lisle, I: Austin Hood, Ft. Campbell, KY; Reginald Smith, Matthew Smith, and Joshua Smith, all of Atlanta, GA; Gregory Smith, II, Birmingham, AL; nieces: Yashica Brooks, LaGrange, GA; Cinnamon Boyd, Edmond, OK; Janisha Smith, Birmingham, AL; and a host of family and friends. The Celebration of Life Service was held Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 12:00PM at Zion Hill Baptist Church. Pastor William Dean and Rev. Larry Asberry officiated. Interment followed at Southview Cemetery.
Lucious Scott, Jr.
Mr. Lucious Scott Sr. was born February 17, 1933 to the late Callie Davidson and the late Clyde Scott in Troup County, Georgia. He accepted Christ and united with Valley Grove Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon. Lucious, Sr. received his education at Jones Street School. He later met and married his wife, Jo Ann Thornton Scott on November 6, 1955. This union has remained intact for over sixty-four years. Through this union four children were reared. His employment history includes working on the railroad in his earlier life and later working with Milliken and Company thirty plus years until his retirement in 2004. One of the most fun and enjoyment in his life was speaking in riddles of note “which hardly no one understood”. He peacefully departed this life after a brief illness on February 17, 2020 at WellStar West Georgia Hospice. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Scott; brother, Amos Scott; sister, Annie Beasley as well as several aunts and uncles. He leaves to cherish his memories; his wife, Jo Ann Scott; son, Lucious (Betty Blackmon) Scott, Jr., LaGrange, GA; daughter, Brenda (Eugene) Truitt, Stockbridge, GA; a stepson, Jimmy (Sarah) Thornton, LaGrange, GA; his grandchildren: DeMarkus West, Stockbridge, GA: Nakesha Scott and LaToya Scott, both of LaGrange, GA: Justin West, Houston, TX; four great-grandchildren: Mydarius, Keasha, JarQuavious and LaShonda; as well as a host of other grandchildren he gained through marriage: Tracy, Maurice, Destiny, Michael, Lawrence, Timothy, Elaine, Rico, Keith, Sophia, Martez and Ikea; his brother, Robert (Sara) Scott; aunts: Hazel Williams and Marie Cameron; sister-in-law, Vera Scott; and a host of other relatives and friends with an unquestionable unique bond including a special cousin that seemed more like a sister, Doris Brown, and Willie Powell, Jimmy Tucker, Emma Hardy, Renee Winston, Katina Hudson, William Hameen, Bobby Yarbrough, his Waffle House Family and a host of other nieces, nephew, cousins, family and friends. Remember you were all special to him. The Celebration of Life Service was held Saturday, February 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Valley Grove Baptist Church. Pastor Charles Martin officiated. Interment followed at Restlawn Memory Gardens.
