“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV)
In today’s world, we are no strangers to tragedy, but this past week has been a tough one for a couple that is dear to my heart. This past Sunday, my Pastors lost two of their sons in a single vehicle wreck. The sons were only 16 and 17. My husband and I have been under the leadership of Pastors Kevin and Nicole Royston for many years now, and we have heard their testimony of how God has redeemed, protected, grown, provided, and cultivated them as individuals, a family, and as ministers. I have also witnessed, first hand, the integrity and strength that they both display in their daily lives no matter what has been placed before them. Faith is the message that they teach, and ya’ll, faith is how they live.
We have heard many times of how God can take broken things and make them beautiful, and that is exactly what I am believing for Him to do in this situation. John 10:10 says that Satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy, and I believe that that is exactly what he was trying to do because he knew the assignment that my Pastors have in the kingdom. But did you know that our God is greater? I know that in my own loss in the past few years, I have let that small – but HUGE – detail fall through the cracks, so I know how easy it is to forget. Our God will NEVER leave us, as the verse above says.
Going through loss, you know that there are really no words that can be said, but the Word of God is truth, and I hope that this will be a small reminder that our Father is there with us, even when it seems He is a million miles away. He sees every tear and He knows every hurt (Psalm 56:8). Through this pain and loss, He has already begun making a new way (Isaiah 43:19), and His promises stand. He will heal the broken hearts (Psalms 147:3), He will make EVERYTHING beautiful in its time (Ecclesiastes 3:11), and He will give you strength to help you, and uphold you with His right hand (Isaiah 41:10).
