Three Hospitalized in New Franklin Road Crash

LaGrange Police and the Georgia State Patrol are currently investigating vehicle crash on New Franklin Road that shut down both southbound lanes and sent at least three to the emergency room.

The accident occurred Friday morning when a silver Nissan SUV carrying a family from Villa Rica headed to the beach collided with a maroon Chevrolet pickup truck causing the SUV to careen off New Franklin Road.

The driver of the SUV told police that they were headed south on New Franklin Road on their way to Orange Beach, when the truck crashed into them after topping the hill near North Page Street in the opposite direction. The driver of the truck offered a different story, saying he was also traveling south headed to work on New Franklin Road alongside the SUV when the crash occurred.

An adult and a juvenile in the SUV were airlifted to Atlanta for emergency care. The driver of the pickup truck was transported to a hospital in Columbus. The conditions of the victims are unavailable at this time.

As of press time, the collision is still under active investigation by both the LaGrange Police Department and the Georgia State Patrol.
