Mayor of Hogansville
Mr. Stankiewicz was born in Queens, New York in 1944 but grew up in Philadelphia, PA graduating from Olney High School there. He enlisted in the United States Navy while still in High School and upon graduation served on active duty in that service for two years, primarily in the Mediterranean Sea. Upon completion of his active duty obligation he attended Drexel University in Philadelphia graduating cum laude in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration majoring in Accounting and Law. As a co-op student at Drexel he worked as a Staff Accountant for Arthur Andersen & Co.
After working for Arthur Andersen for three years he worked in the Stock Brokerage business becoming a Registered Principal in a firm in which he was a Partner.
In the early 1970’s Bill represented the United States in international Rugby Football competition as well as being a member of Professional Ski Instructors of America.
In 1974 he began a 27 year career working for the ARAMARK Corporation serving as Controller for their Trans-Alaska Pipeline operations, as a Vice President of Operations for School Bus operations in the northwest of the US, Corporate Controller of ARAMARK’s Transportation subsidiary, and finally as Chief Financial Officer of their Uniform Rental operations. During his career with ARAMARK he has lived in Faribanks and Anchorage, Alaska, Seattle, Los Angeles and Atlanta.
After retirement he provided financial guidance for the start-up of a Hospital Linen Company and served as Hogansville City Manager for over 5 years. He was elected Mayor of that City in November, 2013 and re-elected in November, 2017.
Bill and his wife of 34 years Mary Stewart have lived in Hogansville since 1999 and she operates an Antique and Collectables shop in the City.
