Update: Sweetland Active Shooter Training Added for Tuesday and Thursday Night
The LaGrange Police Department has updated its schedule for its planned Active Shooter Training at Sweetland Amphitheatre, adding two nights of training exercises.
Police warn to not be alarmed if you see squads of officers swarming into Sweetland Amphitheatre throughout the week. LaGrange Police are only using the facility for Active Shooter Training.
The LaGrange Police Department regularly conducts active shooter response training in order to prepare and learn how to safely and more quickly respond to these potentially-deadly incidents.
Starting Monday, the department will use Sweetland to prepare for the possibility of an active shooter incident occurring in Downtown LaGrange.
Originally, the training was announced to be conducted on Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in and around Sweetland Amphitheatre on Smith Street.
Police have recently updated the schedule to add night training exercises on Tuesday and Thursday.
The training schedule was modified to the following times:
- Monday, October 26 and Wednesday, October 28, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Tuesday, October 27 and Thursday, October 29, from 4 p.m. to midnight.
The LaGrange Police Department wants to warn the community not to be alarmed by the large law enforcement presence in this area and notes that this is only a training exercise.
