Clarence Michael Arrant, Sr.
Clarence Michael Arrant, Sr., age 77, of Columbus, currently residing in LaGrange, passed away on October 26, 2020. He was born on April 28, 1943 to the late Clarence Milner Arrant and Helen Francis Stewart Arrant in Columbus, GA. He proudly served in the United States Navy and was the owner of his own contracting business. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Luther Arrant. Survivors include his sons, Clarence “Clancy” Arrant, Jr. (Niki), Stewart Arrant (Tiffany); daughters, Desirae Phillips (Scott), Kasie Arrant; sister, Patty Kennedy (the late Scott); grandchildren, Catarena Arrant, Naomi Arrant, Jacob Elijah Arrant, Asher Isaiah Arrant, Jasmine Arrant, Savannah Arrant, Ethan Arrant, Michael Arrant, William Stewart Arrant, Jr. (Stewie), Devin Hicks, Destiny Epling; Will Epling, Trey Arrant; spiritual daughter, Brittany Key and her daughter, Abbie Milliman; extended family and friends. Family will have a private service at a later date.
Virginia Marie Badding
Mrs. Virginia Marie Badding passed away on October 26, 2020. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 25, 1925 to the late Herman and Rose Zeni. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Badding is preceded in death by her husband, Raphael Badding and her 3 sisters. Mrs. Virginia Marie Badding is survived by her son, Dennis Blankenship (Dawn); her grandchildren, Azule Blankenship and Sandra R. Hill (Glen); her great grandchildren, Nathan Hill, Jeremy Hill, Jessican Hill, Steven Hill, Andrew Locke, Taylor Lock, Kelsi Fuller; her great-great grandchildren, Everley Hill and Magnolia Fuller. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers as they make their way through this challenging time. Mrs. Badding will be laid to rest in Wisconsin Memorial Park in Wisconsin.
Claude W. Duffey, Jr.
Mr. Claude W. Duffey, Jr., 68, of Blairsville, passed away Monday, October 26, 2020, at his home. Mr. Duffey was born October 4, 1952, in Troup County, son of the late Wesley and Betty McCollum Duffey. A 1970 graduate of Hogansville High School, he lived in Troup County most of his life before making his home in Blairsville 20 years ago. He retired from the Georgia State Patrol after 28 years of service as a Trooper First Class and Training Officer and was inducted into the Police and Fireman Insurance Association’s Heroes Hall of Fame for his life-saving action in removing an accident victim from a submerged vehicle. Mr. Duffey was a member of Mountain Grace Baptist church in Hayesville, NC, was a talented guitarist, and enjoyed “pickin” with his friends each Saturday in Union County. Survivors include his wife, Myra Duffey of Blairsville; sons, Paul Duffey and Amber Milner of Blairsville and their children, Justin, Kolby, Allison, Abbigail, and Ashligh; and Joey Duffey of Blairsville and his son Warren; Claude was preceded in death by his son, Brian, and is survived by Brian’s children Meagan and Everett; and is also survived by his brother and sister in-law, Steve and Debbie Duffey of Harve de Grace, MD. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 30, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Terry Rainwater will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery, with law enforcement honors provided by the Georgia State Patrol Honor Guard. The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Thursday night.

Ruby Johnson Hubbard
Mrs. Ruby Johnson Hubbard was born February 22, 1935 in Harris County, Georgia to the late Dan Johnson and Artie Mae Hatchett Johnson. She was the fifth of twelve children. She joined Union Springs Baptist Church at an early age. After marriage, she joined Union Springs United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hubbard was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Rev. W. H. Hubbard. To this union, one daughter, Dejauii was born. On Thursday, October 22, 2020; she passed away in LaGrange, Georgia. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Willie E. Pattillo and Obie Robinson; and two brothers: Herbert Johnson and Harvey Johnson. She is survived by one daughter, Dejauii (James) Eason; three sisters: Thelma Flowers, Gertrude Simpson, and Myrtis (Earl) Williams; three brothers: Norris (Joyce) Johnson, Henderson (Ruthie) Johnson, Lawrence (Judy) Johnson; bonus children: Walter (Ruby) Hubbard, Jr., Roy (Johanna) Davidson, Artur (Lona) Davidson, and Jarvis Jones; and an array of nieces and nephews.

Edna Louise French was born on February 11, 1936 in Gabbettville, Georgia and passed away on October 26, 2020 in Gabbettville, Georgia and is under the care of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. Private Family Graveside Service will be held on October 30, 2020 at 4:00 pm at Long Cane Baptist Church Cemetery. Donations in Edna Louise French’s memory can be made to West Georgia Hospice, First United Methodist Church.
