Suspect Charged with Attempted Burglaries
LaGrange Police have arrested a man on felony charges for attempting to break into multiple homes at a local apartment complex.
The investigation began Wednesday morning about 6:58 a.m., when officers with the LaGrange Police Department were called to the Gardens Apartments on Patillo Road in reference to an attempted burglary in progress.
Officers arrived and were told that a male was trying to kick in doors at the location. Officers then heard banging noises consistent with someone trying to kick in a door behind one of the apartment buildings, so they began to investigate.
As officers approached the building, they spotted a male suspect, who immediately attempted to flee on foot. Officers then gave chase and quickly apprehended the suspect.
During the subsequent investigation, police determined that the suspect, Demonte Fabrise Williams, had tried to enter apartments at that the location and ran when confronted by officers.
As a result, Williams, age 28, was arrested and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office where he was charged with Criminal Attempted Burglary and Obstruction of Officers.
