Vets Brave Rain to Celebrate Veterans Day at Elks Lodge
On Wednesday, the La-Grange Elks Lodge continued their annual tradition of serving lunch for veterans and their families the local lodge on South Davis Road.
Those who braved the weather were treated to a free lunch with steak sandwiches provide by DJs Wings on Hogansville Road. The crowds inside were significantly smaller than previous years, but Elk volunteers noted that many vets were picking up their sandwich plates togo.
The Elks have hosted the event for 16 years, serving more thousands of current and former servicemen and women and their families.
The annual event offers the opportunity for vets to reunite with old friends and make new ones, reminiscing over their shared military service.
The event also gives the Elks the opportunity to thank veterans for their service. They note it is the least they can do to show appreciation for those who are serving and those who continue to serve in the armed forces so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we have.
The event was made possible with help from generous local businesses, organizations, and individuals who help the Elks Lodge host the lunch each year.
