Striffler Hamby

Pat Cummings

Mrs. Pat Cummings, 72, of LaGrange, GA passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Hospice LaGrange. Mrs. Cummings was born September 15, 1948 in LaGrange, GA, daughter of the late Fred Cleveland Hendricks and Martha Washington Stitt Hendricks.  She was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church and was employed with the Troup County School System before retiring. Survivors include her husband, Roger Cummings; children, Tammy Harris (Cliff), Tangela Fuller (Brad), Tonya Deloach, Angie Mobley (Joe), and Wendee Long; grandchildren, Justin Doughman, Holly King (Matt), Cody Doughman (Lindsey), Heather Gooch, Andrea Nix, Sydney Lilienthal (Wyatt), Hannah Callahan (Jon), Hilary Harris, Tripp Harris, Keaton Fuller, Kaleigh Fuller, Brandy Ward (Jonathon), Mark Ellis, D.L. Long, Drew Ivey, and Megan Gaston; and great grandchildren, Emersyn Doughman, Cohen Doughman, Leah Fuller, Elsie Kate Smith, Jack Callahan, Gracie Ellis, Briley Gaston, Sail Ward, Hunter Ivey, Olivia Ivey, Andrea Ivey, Sumer Ivey, Rayne Ivey, Braden Long, and Gage Long. The Celebration of Life service was held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, November 13, 2020 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary where Rev. Max McCord officiatied.  The gathering of family and friends immediately followed the memorial service. Flowers were be accepted or contribution may be made to West Georgia Hospice, 1510 Vernon Road, LaGrange, GA 30240 in memory of Mrs. Laura Patricia “Pat” Cummings.


Suzanne Wyanette Chandler

Suzanne Wyanette Chandler, 75, of LaGrange, GA passed away November 10, 2020 at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center. “Suzy” as she was affectionately known was born November 4, 1945 in Roanoke, AL to the late Oliver Alexander Quintal and Catherine Eudene Jackson/Brown. She retired from the medical field, after working in a number of locations. Suzy was a member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church and enjoyed arts & crafts, baking, sewing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Tony Brown. Those left to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Danny Joe Chandler; her children, Teresa Lynn Martin, Sonia Kay Booker, and Michael Aubrie Chandler; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a sister, Janice Cantrell; other relatives and friends. The gathering of family and friends was held be Friday, November 13, 2020 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home. The Celebration of Life Service was at  10:00am Saturday, November 14, 2020 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary where Rev. David Adamson officiated. Burial was at 2:00pm in Eastlawn Memorial Park, McDonough, GA.


Lawrence Gale Swann

Lawrence Gale Swann, 79, of Hogansville, GA passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Swann was born September 28, 1941 in LaGrange, GA, son of the late Emmett Gay Swann and Mary Elizabeth Denny Swann. He worked for a number of years at Duracell, until his health declined. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Swann; and a sister, Carol Hammett. Survivors include his son, Chris Swann; daughter, Donna Swann (Jerry) Walters; siblings, Helen Wright, Gene Swann, Linda Attaway, Harold Swann, and Danny Daniel; grandson, Trent Walters; several other relatives and friends. A Memorial service will be held at a later date.

Rachel Mildred Clark Dodgen

Mrs. Rachel Mildred Clark Dodgen, age 87, of Five Points, Alabama passed away on November 10, 2020.  Mrs. Dodgen was born on March 17, 1933 in Opelika, Alabama to the late Houston Clark and Levis Ray Clark.  She worked for the Troup County Board of Education as a Teacher’s Aid.  Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Jimmy Clay Dodgen; children, Loren C. Dodgen and his wife Ann and Tam Hill and her husband Emmett; sisters, Brenda Schrader and Dot Hornsby; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; extended family and friends.  Funeral services were held on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand Chapel where Rev. Roger Luke and Rev. Mike Watson officiated.  Interment  followed at State Line Christian Church.  Family received friends on Thursday evening from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.


Pauline Hyacinth Berryhill Roberts

Pauline Hyacinth Berryhill Roberts, age 96, of LaGrange, passed away on November 12, 2020. She was born on February 12, 1924 to the late Paul Berryhill and Lonnie Baker Berryhill in LaGrange, GA. She retired from Playtex where she worked over 20 years. After her retirement she worked at daycares and nursery facilities local to LaGrange. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Willis Alton “Pete” Roberts, Sr. Survivors include her sons, Alton Roberts Jr. (Carolyn) and Freddie Roberts (Charlotte); sister, Myrtle Brown; grandchildren, Keri Shay Talley (Paul), Tiffany Benincosa (Jeff), Ryan Roberts (Melissa), Aynsley Copeland, and Chad Ramey; seven great grandsons and one great granddaughter; extended family and friends. Family will have a graveside service at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 16, 2020 at Shadowlawn Cemetery with Rev. Allen Smith officiating. Family will assemble at the graveside prior to the service.



William “Buck” Herndon

Mr. William “Buck” Herndon, 81 of LaGrange, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center. Born January 24, 1939 in Hogansville, Mr. Herndon was the son of the late Leonard and Valena Collier Herndon. He was a lifelong resident of Troup County, a member of Grace Baptist Church and retired from the maintenance department at West Georgia Medical Center. In retirement, Mr. Herndon attended West Georgia Tech to become a Licensed Master Barber and operated Buck’s Barber Shop for several years. He was a faithful Mason and Shriner. At the time of his death he was Worshipful Master at the Elm City Lodge in LaGrange. Mr. Herndon will always be known as a good man who loved and was loved by his friends and family. Survivors include his daughter, Cindy Bailey; sons and daughters in-law, Cornelius and Pam Herndon, Tim and Missy Herndon, and Chad and Tisa Herndon, all of LaGrange; sisters and brothers in-law, Delores Gaddy, Linda Galloway, Gracie and Joseph Moore and Gail and Terry Searels, all of Hogansville; brothers and sister in-law, Richard and Frances Herndon and James Herndon, all of Hogansville; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Herndon was preceded in death by his wife, Wylene Strickland Herndon; granddaughter, Celia Bailey Knight; brother, Larry Herndon; and a sister, Janice Wilson. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 15, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. The Reverend Donnie Benefield and the Reverend Jimmy McMillian will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 until 3 Sunday afternoon.

Lizzie Hall

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 Mrs. Lizze Hall was born May 10, 1939 in Chambers County, Alabama to Lonnie and Ella Mae Bailey. She was the fifth of six children born to this union. She attended Kelley Grammar School. At an early age, she joined Church of Christ, then later joined Solomon Grove Baptist Church. Lizzie later united with Greater Works Ministry under the Pastorship of Pastor Wand Martin. She worked faithfully in the Ministry until her health began to decline. Mrs. Lizzie was a God-fearing woman. It was her faith in God that sustained her down through the years. She retired from Dezurik Manufacturing Plant in 1988. Mrs. Lizzie enjoyed being with her family and having fun with friends at the Active Life Center. In her past time, she loved watching basketball and fishing. On Tuesday, November 10, 2020; Lizzie departed this life at Pruitt Health in Franklin, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, three brothers, and her husband, Lorenzo Hall. She leaves to cherish her memories, her niece, Vickie Simpson and family; nephew, Tony and Wanda Herndon and family; sisters-in-law:  Dr. Sandra Hall and Bunny Hutchinson, both of Atlanta, GA; brothers-in-law:  Jerry Hall, Elder Tony Hall, both of Atlanta, GA; and Donald Hall of Detroit, MI; special cousin, Effie Stevens, Jonesboro, GA; special friends:  Mrs. Clara Harrison and Mrs. Elaine Tankersley; extended family:  Pastor Wand and Sister Johenne Martin and Greater Works Ministry; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other friends whom were blessed to have known her.
