Up All Night, Area in Need Donate Hundreds of Thanksgiving Meals
Confidence Missionary Baptist Church was a busy place Tuesday as it hosted Jake Sessions’ annual Up All Night Thanksgiving event.
“We’re just serving our community today,” said Pastor Mike Jackson of Confidence Missionary. “Jake Sessions has done this for over twenty years and needed a place to host it this year.”
“We’re giving out one turkey per family and some non-perishable items,” he added.
Demand was high, as cars wrapped around the building and volunteers directed traffic. “We have approximately 125 turkeys, and we’ve served probably over 250 families by way of food and dinner plates, also.”
In addition to the food given away at Confidence Baptist, event organizers also worked with Area in Need from Atlanta to serve meals to families currently living at Motel 6 in La-Grange. The Atlanta-based organization now looks to bring its community services to LaGrange to provide extra relief for at-need families during the holiday season.
Volunteers to both events were in high spirits, singing, dancing, and worshipping while donating Thanksgiving meals.
Multiple groups and organizations donated to make the event happen, including: •Western Heights Baptist Church
•First Baptist Church on the Square LaGrange
•CMBC and Pastor Mike Jackson
•Lakes Dunson Robert
•Doctor W.T. Edmundson
•Blessed Reality Group
•KMMG West Point
•Area in Need Missionary House worked behind the scene April Ross of BeeTV, who volunteered at the event, thanked other volunteers and those who donated.
“God is doing awesome work in the community,” she said. “We’ve got people who are loving on each other. This is what it’s all about. This is what we do. We are better together.”
