Billie Ruth Slaton
Mrs. Billie Ruth Slaton, 90, of Hogansville, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020, at Florence Hand Home. Mrs. Slaton was born October 27, 1930 in LaGrange and was the daughter of the late Walter and Leola Caldwell Wilson. She was a lifelong resident of Hogan Town Community in Coweta County, was a longtime member of Grantville Methodist Church, and was a homemaker. She is survived by her son Jimmy Slaton; and her daughter, Jinny Slaton, both of Hogansville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby C. Slaton. The funeral service was conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 15, at the graveside in Grantville Cemetery with the Reverend Terry Rainwater officiating.
Barbara Garrett Washington
Mrs. Barbara Garrett Washington, 83 of LaGrange, passed away Monday, December 15, 2020, at Hospice LaGrange. Born August 3, 1937 in Troup County, Mrs. Washington was the daughter of the late Sidney Fred Garrett and Nellie Ruth Smith Garrett. She lived in Atlanta for many years before returning to Troup County in 1976. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and retired from Troup County School System where she worked in the cafeteria at Gardner Newman Middle School for 17 years. Survivors include her sister, Pearl Morgan; brother, Homer Garrett, both of LaGrange; 2 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Washington was preceded in death by her husband, Arol Washington; daughter, Melanie Ann Smith; sister, Betty Bloom; and a brother, Dewey Garrett, Sr. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 17, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Randall Hodge officiated and interment was in Hillview Annex Cemetery in LaGrange. The family received friends at the funeral home from 12 until 2 Thursday afternoon.
Serenity Leann Cribbs
Serenity Leann Cribbs, 5 months old of Hogansville, passed away Friday, December 11, 2020, at her home. Serenity is survived by her mother, Amanda Cribbs and Shane Costley; father, Brian Veal and Nicole Smith; sisters, Tiana Marie Cribbs, Isabella Cribbs, Georgia Veal, and Charlevoix Veal; brother, Timothy Brian Veal, Jr.; grandparents, Tina and William Lawton, all of Hogansville and Angela Bishop, of Macon; great-grandmothers, Rosemary McCullers of Fellsmere, FL and Joyce Houser, of Inverness, FL; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, including, Jason and Faith Cribbs, Christopher and Tarah Cribbs, and Tara and Bill Boyd. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Steven Cribbs. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 19, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Reverend TJ Boyd officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 3 Saturday afternoon.

Janice Marie Hester Jones
Mrs. Janice Marie Hester Jones, of LaGrange, passed away on December 15, 2020. Mrs. Jones was born on July 4, 1937 in Troup County, Georgia to the late Jim Hester and Eleanor Geter Hester. She was an Administrator for Torrance Construction upon her retirement. Prior to that, she worked for over twenty years at Coca-Cola. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a nephew, Carl Hester. Survivors include her husband of over fifty four years, Elton Eugene (Gene) Jones; sons, Jimmy Jones (Mandi) and Scott Jones (Heather); brother, Larry Hester (Terrie); grandchildren, Steven Jones, Carson Jones, Jonah Meacham, Joie Meacham, Julie Meacham, Jacob Meacham, Tiffany Floyd and Amber Collins; aunt, Jenny Geter; extended family and friends. Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Shadowlawn Cemetery with Rev. Max McCord officiating. Friends visited the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-7 pm to pay their respects to the family. Herbert Clyde Barnes
Mr. Herbert Clyde Barnes, age 89, of LaGrange, passed away on December 15, 2020. Mr. Barnes was born on August 6, 1931 in LaGrange to the late James Otis Barnes, Sr. and Ethel Lee Shirey Barnes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister. Mr. Barnes was an old world craftsman that found great joy in repairing and restoring old clocks, guns and knives. Many of these he shared with family and friends. Survivors include his wife of sixty six years, Martha Lavelle Denney Barnes; sons, David Barnes (Shannon); daughters, Vicki Lanier and Mona Lucretia Wynn (Mark); six grandchildren by birth and numerous others claimed as grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren by birth and many more that were a part of his family; extended family and friends. Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand where Rev. Randy Nix officiated. Interment followed at Meadoway Gardens. Family received friends on Thursday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
