Lavonia Louise Anglin Montgomery, 91, of Five Points, AL, formerly of Griffin, widow of Robert Haynes Montgomery died Monday, January 4, 2020 at her home. Born in Greenville, SC, August 29, 1929, she was a daughter of the late James Anglin and Margaret B. Kitchens. Mrs. Montgomery formerly served as a Supervisor at Dundee Mills Plant #2 before retiring with over thirty years of service. She loved Bingo and hummingbirds and was a wonderful cook. She was a member of the Elks Club in LaGrange. Mrs. Montgomery was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillie Mae Nichols and Grace Waddle; and a brother, Julius Anglin. Survivors include seven children, Clarence Bailey of Five Points, AL, Don Bailey and wife Verna of Griffin, Steve Bailey and wife Eileen of Savannah, Brenda English and husband John of Griffin, Frank Bailey and wife Leticia of Senoia, Joe Montgomery of Five Points, AL and Jenny Morris and husband Scott of Griffin; grandchildren, Mike Bailey and wife Julie, David Bailey and Blaine Jackson, Brent Bailey and wife Paige, Steven Bailey, Chris Theilmann and wife Tiffany, Bebe Goolsby and partner Brandon Henson, J.W. English, Chris Bailey and wife Denise, Wesley Morris and Joshua Morris; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Lavonia Louise Anglin Montgomery will be conducted Saturday, January 9, 2020 at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Sandra Fendley officiating. Burial will follow in Westwood Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 AM until the service hour at the funeral home. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic the family respectively request those planning to attend the visitation or service to wear masks and practice socially distancing.

Mr. Nichols Leo Seegar, Jr., of LaGrange, passed away on January 1, 2021 at the Riverdale Healthcare. A memorial service was held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2020 at Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter-Allen-Myhand. The family received friends before the service from 4 p.m. until service time. Pastor Benjie Dukes officiated the service.
Rev. Charles Wesley Chapman, Sr.
Rev. Charles Wesley Chapman, Sr., of LaGrange, passed away on January 2, 2021. Rev. Chapman was born in Montezuma, Georgia to the late Clifford Lamar Chapman and Beulah Poteet Chapman. Rev. Chapman proudly served our country in the United States Navy. After his service in the Navy, Rev. Chapman attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from Tennessee Temple University. He was also honored with a Doctorate Degree from Victory Baptist Church. Rev. Chapman retired from Faith Baptist Church after serving 29 years as their pastor. Rev. Chapman also served as Chaplain for the City of LaGrange Police Department and the Georgia State Patrol for many years.
Rev. Chapman is survived by his wife, Faye Layfield Chapman; son, Charles Wesley “Chuck” Chapman Jr. (Deborah); daughter, Kimberly C. Herren (Scott); brother, Tommy Chapman (Gail); sister, Ann Dodson; grandchildren, Joshua Steven Ham (Hanna), Jeremy Michael Ham (Haley), Charles Wesley “Chaz” Chapman, III, Cameron Reese Chapman; great-grandchildren; Dawson Ham, Barrett Ham; step-children, Skyler and Tyler Herren; extended family and a host of friends. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 12:00 pm at the Faith Baptist Church. Rev. Brandon Brooks officiated assisted by many of the ministerial staff that served with Rev. Chapman. Entombment followed at Restlawn Memory Gardens. Family received friends on Wednesday at the church beginning at 10:00 am until service hour.
Susan Mobley Lewis
Mrs. Susan Mobley Lewis, 56, of LaGrange, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at her home. Born June 8, 1964 in LaGrange, Mrs. Lewis was the daughter of the late James and Gwen Mobley. She was a lifelong resident of LaGrange, had worked at American Home Shield, and loved her grandchildren. Survivors include her spouse, Ty Morgan of LaGrange; daughter and son-in- law, Brandie and Chris Arrington and their daughter Zoie of LaGrange; and son and daughter in-law, Dustin and Kimily Musgrove and their son, Davin of Waycross. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 8, at the graveside in Meadoway Gardens with the Reverend Brad Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 until 12:30 Friday.
Gene Autry White, Sr.
Mr. Gene Autry White, Sr.,77 of LaGrange, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 at his home. Born May 15, 1943 in Albany, GA, Mr. White was the son of the late James Franklin White, Sr. and Alma Meeks White. He was a longtime store manager for Winn-Dixie, had lived in LaGrange for 46 years, and was a member of Freedom House. Mr. White was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sharon White of LaGrange; daughter, Wendy Roberts of Pine Mountain; son and daughter in-law, Autry and Angie White of LaGrange; brother, Wade White; five grandchildren; four great- grandchildren and another great-grandchild soon to arrive. In addition to his parents, Mr. White was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles White and James “PeeWee” White; and sisters Gladys Archer and Edith Alligood. The family will host a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 9, at Freedom House with Pastor Autry White officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 12 until 2 Saturday afternoon.
Mary C. Massey
Mrs. Mary C. Massey, 90, of Aragon and formerly of Hogansville, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Winthrop Health and Rehabilitation in Rome. Mrs. Massey was born November 26, 1930, in Stewart County, daughter of the late J. V. Courtney and Gladys Bradshaw Courtney Phelps. A resident of Hogansville most of her life, she had lived with her son in Aragon since 2013. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Trinity Worship Center, was awarded her Bachelor’s degree from LaGrange College in 1987, and was an avid reader. Survivors include her sons, Tommy Moon of Roswell, Bobby Moon and his wife Shirley of Aragon; grandchildren, Tommy Moon, Jr., Tammy Oaks, Rande Wills, Cassandra Simmons, Dena Flanagan, Shannon Moon, and Craig Moon; sixteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. The funeral service was conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, at the graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, where the Reverend Terry Rainwater officiated.
Deborah Lynn Deleon
Deborah Lynn Deleon, 61, of LaGrange, GA went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 25, 2020. Ms. Deleon was born August 4 1959, in Champaign Ill. To the late James Rufus Smith and Annie Estelle Hearn. She is survived by her daughter, Amber Clark; sons, Ian (Stephanie) Deleon and Roy Lee Lordan Neese; grandchildren, Azure Deleon, Micha Deleon, Alexas Deleon, Blake Deleon, Levi Clark and Laila Clark; brothers, Robert Nishiyama and Thomas Nishiyama; sister, Brenda Nishiyama Willis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Paula Patillo. Ms. Deleon attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church of LaGrange.
