New Seafood Market Opens on Vernon Road
Claws Seafood Market is making a splash in LaGrange.
The newly-opened seafood market offers a wide variety of fresh fish and its now-famous seafood boil. Owned and operated by Cherrelle Gilmore and Chastity Barber, Claws looks to expand LaGrange’s seafood market.
“What made us want to do the sea food market here is because LaGrange doesn’t have anything of this nature,” said Gilmore, who is from Titusville, Florida. “We felt like it was a good idea to bring that kind of market to LaGrange.”
Claws has enjoyed successful business in the short time since its opening, and according to Barber, customers have a conclusive favorite.
“The seafood boil,” she said. “Definitely the seafood boil.”
The market offers a wide array of flavors to suit all customer needs.
“Our flavors range from a medium to a hot,” said Barber, speaking of the seafood boil.
For Claws, their Vernon Road location is just the beginning.
“We are planning on opening another establishment,” Barber said. Right now, however, the duo is focusing on building up their current LaGrange location.
“A lot of people are still learning about us,” said Gilmore. “But for the most part, the community has been very supportive.”
When asked what the pair hopes customers take away from their experience at Claws, Gilmore provided a quick answer.
“First: customer service. Second: quality. Third: taste,” she said.
Claws Seafood Market is located at 1689 Vernon Road #5 and is open from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays; 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays; and 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The market is closed on Tuesdays.
