An Affair to Remember Unveils Upstairs Addition

Jared Boggs

For An Affair to Remember owner Amy Warren, Friday’s ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the business’s upstairs addition was a dream nearly a decade in the making.

“We’re super excited,” said Warren. “We’ve been planning something like this since we opened downstairs almost ten years ago, and we kind of dreamed about being up here too. We thought, ‘Oh, when we’re big-time we can do that,’ and now here we are!”

Prior to its opening, however, the upstairs suite required a bit of a renovation.

“We really wanted to go with something really light, airy, and comfy,” she said. “We feel like this is really a cozy space, but still beautiful.”

The upstairs portion of the business was made possible through partnership with dress designer Morilee.

“We’re working in partnership as a premier partner with Morilee—which is our number one designer here,” said Warren. “They started a program in which they can help with build-out, and we talked with them to be a little more of an exclusive deal with them.”

An Affair to Remember doesn’t plan on any further expansions for a while, said Warren, before noting that the business has experienced a bit of a redesign during the current pandemic.

“We did spruce up our prom section downstairs so that we could be more COVID friendly and spread the girls out,” she said. “We added a runway downstairs for the girls to model their prom gowns, as well as more singular dressing rooms.”

It’s a consideration Warren and her team at An Affair to Remember took seriously.

“One of our thoughts when everything was closed down was, ‘Once we open back up, how are we going to keep people spread apart?’” she said. With the new upstairs addition, she noted, customers will now enjoy more space to socially distance while shopping.

Despite the ongoing pandemic, An Affair to Remember enjoyed continued success last year.

“We survived a crazy 2020 with COVID,” said Warren. “We actually still had our best year ever.”

During Friday’s ceremony, Warren thanked those who have helped the business grow.

“The community has been so supportive of us for so many years,” she said. “So, I really, really appreciate you guys.”

Warren spoke to a gathered crowd of family, friends, former and current employees, and members of the LaGrange-Troup Chamber of Commerce.

Currently, Warren and her team are in talks about renting out the upstairs suite for bridal parties and other occasions after business hours. Those interested are encouraged to reach out to An Affair to Remember for additional information.

An Affair to Remember is located at 9 E Lafayette Square in downtown LaGrange.
