LaGrange Police are investigating an incident where an unknown suspect ambushed and robbed employees at a local Wendy’s restaurant.

The investigation began Friday morning, around 6 a.m., when officers with the LaGrange Police Department were called to the Wendy’s on Lafayette Parkway in reference to an armed robbery.

Police arrived and spoke to employees, who stated a black male ambushed them outside the rear door while preparing to open the restaurant. Employees advised that when they opened the backdoor, an unknown male brandished a firearm and forced them back into the restaurant.

The suspect then ordered four employees into an office where he demanded money. The male then fled the location on foot with an undisclosed amount of money in a currently unknown direction.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Sgt. Robert Kirby advised that the male suspect was described by employees as about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with no build given. He reportedly wore all dark clothing and a stocking over his head, though it was not covering his face.

Investigators are currently in the process of attempting to review security video of the incident, and this case remains under investigation.

Currently, the suspect is being investigated for armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and kidnapping for forcing the employees around the location at gunpoint.
