Man Charged with Thefts at Separate Waffle Houses
LaGrange Police have charged a man with multiple felonies for allegedly stealing a truck and entering another vehicle at separate Waffle Houses.
The investigation began Sunday morning, when officers with the LaGrange Police Department received reports of a truck that was stolen from the Waffle House on Whitesville Road.
Police later located the stolen truck abandoned at the Marathon fuel station on Hamilton Road. While looking for the suspect at the location, officers received word that the suspect, Michael Wayne Beach, was inside another nearby convenience store at the Pure Station on Hamilton Road.
Officers then relocated and learned that Beach was in the men’s restroom. While waiting for him to exit, officers heard the toilet flushing multiple times. Beach was then taken into custody without incident after exiting the restroom.
Two bank cards and a pack of cigarettes belonging to a second victim were later located in the restroom. Police say it appears that Beach attempted to flush the bank cards and cigarettes to get rid of the evidence, but neither item would go down the toilet.
The second victim told police that Beach had entered the Waffle House on Hamilton Road, which he manages, inquiring about Internet service. He later realized that he had left his Buick LeSabre unlocked by mistake and that it been rummaged through. He stated the bank cards and cigarettes had been taken from his vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, Beach, age 37, was charged with felony auto theft and three counts of entering auto theft.
Beach is currently being held at the Troup County Jail on $10,000 bond.
