LaGrange Police are looking for a man who reportedly threatened a female with a knife and stole her car over the weekend.
Sunday night, about 8:04 p.m., officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to Town and Country Motel on New Franklin Road in reference to reports of a violent altercation between a male and female.
Officers arrived and spoke with the 21-year-old female victim, who reported that a coworker, Carl Lamar Stevens, had attacked her and stolen her vehicle.
Police determined during the subsequent investigation that the victim and Stevens had gotten into an altercation inside a motel room rented by Stevens. He reportedly threatened the victim with a knife demanding that she not call police and attempted to prevent her from leaving.
According to police, the victim was temporarily held in the room against her will, but was able to escape. Stevens then fled the scene in her vehicle before officers arrived.
Officers later located Stevens in the stolen automobile, but he managed to escape after fleeing from the vehicle on foot. As of last report, he has not been apprehended.
Warrants have since been issued for the arrest of Carl Lamar Stevens Jr., age 27, for aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, auto theft, and obstruction of officers.
This incident is still under investigation by the LaGrange Police Department Criminal Investigation Section.
