Myrtle Moon Stitcher

Mrs. Myrtle Moon Stitcher, 83, of Hogansville, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021, at her home. Mrs. Stitcher was born October 18, 1937, in Troup County, daughter of the late Hairme and Emmie Weldon Moon. A lifelong resident of Troup County, she retired from West Point Stevens Dunson Division after 27 years of service and attended Springhill Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, Joanne (Walter) Capes, Bobby Joe (Lorene) Stitcher, Gail Stitcher, Brenda (Danny) Chatham all of Hogansville, Kenneth (Terita) Stitcher of LaGrange, Lorie (Robbie) Johnson of Hogansville; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister in-law, Aunt Joyce; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Estelle Cottle, J. D. Moon, Herman Moon, and Shirley Allen. The funeral service was conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 13, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Jody Mitchell officiated and interment was in the Stitcher Family Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Flowers are welcomed or memorial contributions may be made to Springhill Baptist Church.

Pattie Jean Easterwood

Ms. Pattie Jean Easterwood, of LaGrange, passed away on February 8, 2021. Mrs. Easterwood was born on April 6, 1949 in Flowery Branch, Georgia to the late Bluford Garrett and Willie C. Shockley Garrett. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald Garrett, Charles Garrett, Kinnie Garrett (wife, Frankie). Mrs. Easterwood is survived by her husband, Charles Roger Easterwood; daughters, Daphne (Michael) Jennings, Pam (Tim) Gaddy; brothers, Jimmy (Beverly) Garrett, Robert (Shelia) Garrett, Cecil Mayfield, Edward Mayfield; sister, Ida Husbands; sisters-in-law, Shirlene Garrett, Linda Garrett; grandchildren, Lamar Gaddy, Luke Gaddy, Michaela Jeanae Robinson; great-grandchildren, William Lane Gaddy, Alyvia Gaddy, Alyse Gaddy, Aubrey Jayde Gaddy. nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 3:00 pm at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand with Rev. S.T. Janey officiated. Family received friends on Wednesday beginning at 2:00 pm until service hour at the funeral home. The service was be live-streamed at


Mamie Sue (Jackson) Ward

Mamie Sue (Jackson) Ward , age 81, passed away on Monday, February 8th, 2021. She was born in Waverly, Alabama on June 13th, 1939 to the late Robert Hughes Jackson and Lilly Mae Jackson. She was employed with Walmart as an Associate for over 32 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene “Gene” Ward, her 5 brothers and a sister and her daughter in law, Tammi Ward. Survivors include her sons, Mike Ward and Tim Ward (Lynn); her daughter, Susan Flowers (James Foskey); her sister, Rebecca “Becky” Jackson; her grandchildren, Mackenzie Ward, Steven Ward, (Michelle), Crystal Parrott (Scott), Christina “Tina” Lambert (Chris); her great grandchildren, Jackson, Mason, Grayson, Dakota, Bailey, Jake, Autumn, and Easton. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers as they make their way through this very challenging time. Serving the family as pall bearers was Keith Ellison, Scott Parrott, Dakota Parrott, James Foskey, Chris Lambert, and Mike Ward. The family  received friends at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday, February, 12, 2021. The Graveside funeral service was held at 4 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5755 Mallory Rd, College Park, GA 30349. Pastor Mike Watson officiated the service.


Addie Thornton Thompson

Addie Thornton Thompson, age 97, of LaGrange, passed away on February 10, 2021. She was born on September 10, 1923 to the late Morris Emory Thornton and Arzona Ward Thornton in Carroll County, GA. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Boykin Thompson. Survivors include her sons, Roger Thompson (Diane), Morris Thompson, and Gary Thompson (Jenny); twin sister, Liddie Huber (the late Richard); grandchildren, Stacy Johnson (Keith), Patti Colwell (Luke), Jon Thompson (Heather), Katie Soto (Armando), William Thompson (Ashley), Lori Smith, Angie Bowles (Ben), Whitney Hewitt (Chris), Lindsay Reaves (Todd), Heather Aalto (Kevin), and Kelly Williams (Kaylor); great grandchildren, Valerie Johnson, Brian Johnson, Austin Colwell, Levi Colwell, Abbey Thompson, Carson Thompson, Charlie Thompson, Desi Soto, Oliver Soto, Corbin Soto, Colton Thompson, Will Thompson, Rylee Thompson, Maggie Thompson, Owen Thompson, Bryon Bowles, Reagan Bowles, Alexa Reaves, Mark Reaves, Brantlee Aalto, Garrett Aalto, Addie Williams, Weston Williams; extended family and friends. Family had visitation from 11:00 – 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand. Funeral services began at 1:00 PM at the funeral home where Pastor Caleb Nicholson officiated. Interment followed at Shadowlawn Cemetery.

Grace Olivia Boyd Huzzie

A Time to be Born:  Mrs. Grace Olivia Boyd Huzzie was born March 12, 1937 in Troup County, Georgia to the late Willie Buster Boyd and Mary Lou Howell Boyd. A Time to be Learn:  Grace attended Pleasant Grove School, LaGrange, Georgia; Pleasant Hill School, Abbottsford, Georgia; and graduated from East Depot High School, LaGrange. A Time to be Worship:  She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in LaGrange, Georgia. Later in life, she united with Heavenly Heights International Ministries in LaGrange, Georgia; where she served on the Mother’s Board. A Time to be Love:  On July 1, 1969, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late, John W. Huzzie, Sr. A Time to be Mourn:  On Monday, February 8, 2021; Grace answered the ultimate call transitioning from labor to REWARD. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by four brothers:  Frank Boyd, Willie “Sun” Boyd, John B. Boyd, and Joe Henry Boyd, Sr.; four sisters:  Carrie L. Bray, Rosie L. Dean, Ada P. Atcherson, and Mary Lou Boyd Smith. She leaves to cherish her memories, her beloved children:  Reginald (Kim) Boyd, Davenport, FL; Deidre (Kenny) Stacks, Valdosta, GA; Cassandra (Michael) Snelling, LaGrange, GA; and John (Nicole) W. Huzzie, Jr., Douglasville, GA; ten grandchildren:  Reginald Boyd, Jr., Nicholas Boyd, Gabrielle Boyd, Jacqueline Boyd, Angel Griffin, Blake Williams, Cortney Williams, Mikayla Snelling, William Huzzie, Jordan Huzzie; six great grandchildren; her very loving and devoted sister, Annell Lindsey, Carrollton, GA; two sisters-in-law:  Virginia Watkins, LaGrange, GA; and Susie Schley, Jax, FL; one brother-in-law, Larry Huzzie, LaGrange, GA; special friends:  Doris “Dot” Davidson and Jessie Delaney; and a host of other relatives and friends.
