Police have made an arrest for the Adamson Street shooting that left one man dead and one man critically injured in December.

LaGrange Police arrested Johnnie L. Perryman on Bell Street in LaGrange and charged him with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon for the shooting that occurred late last year.

Police began investigating the shooting on the night of Dec. 18, 2020, around 9:23 p.m., when they were called to the 1700 block of Adamson Street in reference to reports of a subject who had been shot.

Officers arrived to find 20-year-old Monquarious Wilder dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Another victim, 26-year-old Jaquavius Perryman, was determined to have been taken to WellStar West Georgia Medical Center with a gunshot wound from the incident. Perryman was later airlifted to a Metro Atlanta hospital in critical condition.

Police have not released any potential motives for the incident, only saying instead that it appears to have escalated from an altercation between Wilder and Johnnie. They believe the shooting of Jaquavius was accidental, as he is the suspect’s brother. He has since recovered from the incident.
