When she was returned, a neighbor observed Hargett forcing the victim back inside and phoned police.
Hargett was gone by the time police arrived, having reportedly fled the location.
Police say the victim's front door had damage consistent with being kicked in. Ocers also confirmed the victim's injuries, including a cut under her left eye and bruising about her face and body.
Hargett, age 49, was later arrested and booked into the Troup County Jail where he was charged with Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault with a Knife, Battery, Burglary, Interfering with a Call for Emergency Service, and Criminal Trespass.
This incident is still under active investigation by the LaGrange Police Department Criminal Investigation Section.
