Man Charged with Attempted Murder for Beating and Holding Woman Hostage
LaGrange Police have arrested a man on several charges, including attempted murder, after he allegedly held a woman hostage and beat her for nearly 12 hours.
Lorenzo Brown, age 40, was arrested on Tuesday charged with Criminal Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, False Imprisonment, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Police began investigating the incident around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning when, officers with La-Grange Police Department responded to the 300 block of Daniel Street in reference to a domestic dispute.
Officers arrived and made contact with a 36-year-old female, who advised she had just escaped Brown and went to a neighbor’s house to call 911.
The victim told police that she was held against her will for 10 to 12 hours during which time Brown had repeatedly assaulted her.
Police has the victim’s injuries were extensive and she was transported to the West Georgia Medical Center for treatment.
Brown was apprehended nearby and the investigation revealed he assaulted the victim over a number of hours using his hands, feet, and multiple household items. The victim suffered severe injuries while being assaulted.
At the time of his arrest Brown was out of jail on bond for a previous domestic violence charge. Officers also found several firearms in his home, which he was not allowed to have due to prior felony convictions.
